First time at Lazy Dog, I work in the area. Sat at the bar ordered a blueberry and lemon martini (delicious). Also ordered the bao buns when I received my martini. Food never came. Asked the bartender if they were coming soon she said yes however after waiting 40 mins I told her it’s okay and closed out. Horrible experience, bartenders were not that friendly being honest (short and tall Black women). Also tried to order cucumber and mint martini for my second drink, but bartender said they didn't have cucumbers prepped and i would have wait…….again, not a great experience for a first timer.

My husband and I dined in here for the first time, and we were very underwhelmed. The hostess was very nice, but we sat for about 20-25 minutes before we were acknowledged by our server. We figured she was pretty busy, so we didn’t make a huge fuss about it. We ordered appetizers and she even gave us an additional appetizer for free, which was pretty nice. My husband ordered the trout meal and I order the nachos. The nachos weren’t very tasty at all; very bland and mediocre. My husband ended up switching out his fish because he didn’t find the trout very tasty and the texture was weird to him. They were really nice about that, which we really appreciated it. All in all, this wasn’t a bad experience, just not a place where we would eat again. We figured maybe we just ordered the wrong things.

You ever go to a baseball game and your favorite player keeps stepping up to bat… but every single time they strike out? That’s honestly how I feel about the bar experience here. I’ve been several times, sat with the same bartender multiple visits, ordered the exact same drink and food repeatedly… and still no recognition. No anticipation of guest needs. Maybe that level of hospitality just isn’t important anymore, but as someone who truly studies and values service, it stands out.
I purposely come to restaurants closer to closing sometimes because that’s when you see the “real” operation once the rush dies down. Unfortunately, what I noticed wasn’t great. No host present — looked like servers were forced to play host while juggling their own sections. Bathrooms weren’t horrible, but definitely hadn’t been checked in a while because the smell told the story before the mirrors did.
The open kitchen concept is visually nice, but if guests can fully see the kitchen, then health code standards should also visibly match that experience. Hair restraints, beard covers, cleaner expo practices, and stronger urgency matter because guests are watching everything.
The biggest issue though? Consistency. I order the same items almost every visit, yet the plate presentation, sauce portions, and overall setup change every time. It honestly made me wonder if there are food specs or plating standards being followed before dishes leave the kitchen. I also noticed food sitting in the window far too long before being ran. That kills quality immediately.
The restaurant itself was physically clean — floors looked good, silverware appeared polished, and the dining room was maintained — so credit where it’s due. But service culture feels disconnected. No visible manager presence touching tables, leading the floor, assisting staff, or coaching in real time. The restaurant almost feels like it runs itself, and unfortunately that usually reflects in the guest experience. Teamwork also seemed nonexistent; it gave very much “every person for themselves” instead of one cohesive hospitality team.
Food can still hit sometimes, but great restaurants aren’t built on food alone. Hospitality is the feeling guests leave with. Someone in leadership should probably revisit books like “Unreasonable Hospitality” or “Setting the Table” because the difference between service and true hospitality is very noticeable here.
Overall… Lazy Dog got the name right, but the service wrong.

Walked in Saturday May 9th at 11am, at 11:15am we still hadn't seen a server, we all were able to go to the restroom which they were clean..I walked to the hostess stand asked if they could find my server as we hadn't been served yet. 5 mins later still nobody. We got up and walked out after waiting 20 mins with no service. This review will eventually fall and mean nothing, nor our money but as new customers, we definitely won't be back when the restaurant was practically empty no reason to not even be greeted after sitting for 20 mins!

The only reason why I gave this restaurant a one star is for the food. The service was excellent. The Server came attended to all of our needs, and she deserved a great rating. However, the food was not what we expected. My boyfriend ordered nachos. There was a lot of nachos, but the cheese was not nacho cheese sauce and seem to be made very cheaply. The nachos was not worth the price. He was not satisfied with his order. My order was OK, but I would not recommend eating that as well. The environment was very nice. They had nice vibe with a homey feel and the design of the restaurant and the bar was nice. Even the outside sitting area was very welcoming. I just think that they just need to do better with the Quality of the food. This would’ve been one of my favorite restaurants if the food had a bit more TLC therefore I will not be returning to this restaurant.
