My daughter and I decided to try Johnny’s New York Style Pizza for a late Friday night dinner, and overall it was a mixed experience—but definitely worth talking about.
Wait Time & Atmosphere:
We were happy to find there was no wait for a table, which is always a plus, especially on a Friday night. The restaurant has plenty of open seating and seems like it can easily accommodate both small and larger groups. They also offer dine-in, takeout, a bar area, and even outdoor seating for when the weather is nice, which gives you a lot of flexibility depending on what kind of experience you’re looking for.
Service (Start vs. Finish):
At the beginning, service was great. Our server came over quickly to take our drink order and was very helpful when my daughter had questions about the menu. She took the time to explain different dishes so my daughter could decide what she wanted, which I really appreciated.
However, after our food came out, the service unfortunately went downhill pretty quickly. Once we finished eating, we sat for about 10 minutes waiting for boxes and the check. During that time, we noticed other staff members on their phones, eating behind the register, and our server chatting with the kitchen instead of checking on tables. It definitely took away from the overall experience.
Food Quality:
The food, on the other hand, was excellent.
My daughter ordered the chicken parmigiana with spaghetti and a double order of garlic bread. The chicken was well-seasoned and flavorful, and the tomato sauce tasted homemade and fresh. She absolutely loved it. Her exact words about the garlic bread were that it was “warm and so yummy”—and she meant it.
I ordered a medium cheese pizza, and it was exactly what you want from a New York-style spot. It was cheesy, the crust was crispy, and everything was balanced perfectly. Simple, classic, and done right.
Overall:
If you’re wondering whether it’s worth going—the food absolutely is. Both of us really enjoyed our meals and would come back based on that alone. But the service does need improvement, especially toward the end of the dining experience.
Honestly, my daughter summed it up best: “The food was great, but the service is lacking.” And I couldn’t agree more.
If they can get the service to match the quality of the food, this place would easily be a top-tier go-to spot.
