I have completed approximately 1,400 deliveries from this location and have been a resident of the DeKalb County area for approximately 30 years. Throughout my years of pickups from this store, I have generally maintained professional interactions with staff and have not experienced issues of this nature.
During this pickup, I was instructed to retrieve a pizza bag from my vehicle before the order would be released. Although I disagreed with the manner in which the policy was being enforced, I remained respectful, complied with the request, returned with the bag, and confirmed the order when instructed.
Despite complying, the interaction escalated unnecessarily. I was spoken to in a dismissive and hostile manner, referred to with derogatory language, and subjected to comments regarding my vehicle and my work as a DoorDash driver. I was left feeling humiliated and disrespected while attempting to perform a delivery.
I also observed what appeared to be similar treatment toward another younger female delivery driver. After leaving the store, she expressed frustration regarding her interaction with staff, which led me to believe my experience may not have been an isolated incident.
What concerns me most is not the policy itself, but the manner in which it was enforced. I understand that management and staff have the right to implement store procedures. However, no employee should be speaking to customers, contractors, or delivery drivers in a disrespectful, degrading, or confrontational manner.
I respectfully request that management review any available surveillance footage from approximately 4pm June 13th identify the employees involved, and determine whether their conduct reflects the standards and professionalism expected by Papa John’s.
Additionally, due to the seriousness of this incident, I am evaluating whether to submit complaints to appropriate consumer and business oversight channels if this matter is not adequately reviewed and addressed.
