I don’t leave reviews often, but this one absolutely deserves it.
A couple of nights ago, around 2:00 in the morning, I randomly wandered into Talking Tacos after a really rough night. I had actually been across the street at Waffle House, but something told me to come over here because I was craving tacos and hoping they had some vegan options.
The night hadn’t been going well. The person I was with had been rude and disrespectful, and honestly, it had completely changed my mood. Then I walked through the doors of Talking Tacos and met Pilaar.
From the moment she greeted me, everything shifted.
She welcomed me with the warmest, most genuine energy. She didn’t just point me toward the menu—she actually came from behind the counter, walked over to the kiosk, and helped me scroll through every vegan option until we found exactly what I could eat. She was patient, kind, upbeat, and treated me like I mattered. It’s rare to meet someone who can completely change the atmosphere of your day just by being themselves, but that’s exactly what she did.
Because of that experience, I came back today. There are several restaurants in the same plaza that I could have chosen, but I chose Talking Tacos because of the way Pilaar made me feel the first time I came in.
Ironically, today wasn’t the best day for me either. Nobody here knew that—I kept it to myself. But as soon as I walked through the door, before I could even say anything, I heard, “Hey friend! How you been? You good?” Instantly, I smiled. Just hearing that familiar, positive energy pulled me out of my own head.
Later, while she was outside working and cleaning, she still took a moment to stop, check on me and have a quick conversation. That might seem like a small gesture, but moments like that mean more than people realize.
The food here is amazing, especially if you’re looking for vegan options, but what keeps bringing me back is the customer service. Pilaar is the definition of genuine hospitality. She reminds us that serving people isn’t just about taking orders—it’s about making people feel welcome, valued, and seen.
We need more people like Pilaar, not just in the restaurant industry, but in every industry. People with kindness, authenticity, and the ability to brighten someone’s day without even realizing it.
Thank you, Pilaar, for being exactly who you are. You made a bigger impact than you probably know.
