O-Ku Atlanta provides a fresh and innovative take on traditional Japanese sushi and cuisine. The Midtown restaurant offers rare and unique dining options along with traditional sashimi and specialty rolls, sourcing seafood from the finest fish markets in Tokyo and Hawaii alongside local and seasonal ingredients.
Reminiscent of traditional Japanese culture, O-Ku’s menu is comprised of signature starters, contemporary Japanese entrées and seasonal traditional sushi that reflect the uniquely designed space. Located in West Midtown’s Westside Ironworks development, the bustling restaurant is positioned on the east side of the main building and features a spacious rooftop and bar overlooking the Midtown skyline.
Went here for my birthday in January. Was greeted with a LOT of attitude by one of the servers at the front desk (blonde). She acted like it was a burden to take care of us… like we’re paying YOU money. I asked her to move us away from the front door because it was freezing, and she threw up her hands and begrudgingly moved us 5 feet away. They took an hour and a half to finish our food. As a thank you, they gave me a Lush bath bomb. But I don’t care, this was awful service and they need to train their staff on hospitality. There are much better sushi spots to try in Duluth, Sandy Springs, etc where you DON’T have to pay for valet parking. Don’t come here. It was not worth the money.

Very tasty sushi and drinks. The yellow brick road roll and lobster dumplings my faves. Sake roll ok but could taste a little of the butane from the torch. The otoro nigiri bite ok but not the best I had. A touch bitter this time didn’t see sweet potato maybe why or maybe just the piece. The Suzuki spritz drink was lovely.

We were really looking forward to visiting O-ku, unfortunately the experience was lacking. Our server was just ok, he was forgetful and not attentive. We got a flat coke and asked him for another one and nothing ever came, even though we asked multiple times for it, he then proceeded to say that the machine was probably broken. The sushi was just ok. We spent over $250 for 4 people and for that price I feel like the service and the food should have been better.

I really wanted to like O-Ku because the space is genuinely very cute and the ambiance is great, especially upstairs on the outdoor patio with the city views. Unfortunately, the service made the experience pretty frustrating.
Our servers were friendly on the surface, but they forgot half of our order and we had to ask multiple times for basic things throughout the night. It wasn’t just our table either; it was clear other guests were also waiting on items that never showed up. We did eventually receive a couple of the missing dishes after following up again, but another item still never came and we finally just gave up on it.
What made it more disappointing is that the restaurant did not seem busy enough to justify that level of confusion and lack of attention. I’m not sure if the issue was with the servers or the kitchen, but either way it felt disorganized and not in line with the type of experience you’d expect at a place like this. The ambiance and patio are lovely, so I might give it another try someday, but only if the service improves.
