For the past several months, I've been a regular customer at Caribou. There are days I stop in just to buy coffee and spend a few hours focusing on work. Yesterday, as I was packing up to leave for the evening after working outside, I stepped inside to quickly use the restroom. I asked for the code and was told that I now had to make a purchase to use it. No, thank you. I already spend enough money there. I was told it's under new management. Fair enough—we'll see how long that policy lasts. I understand the reasoning behind wanting to keep non-customers out of the restroom. But from a business perspective, what does this policy actually accomplish? Does it increase revenue, or does it discourage loyal customers from coming back? As a business owner, I don't see how this increases revenue at all. If anything, it creates unnecessary friction for the very people who already support your business. Customer loyalty is built through hospitality, not barriers.

The staff was rude when taking my order, and after waiting more than 20 minutes, I had to ask where my croissant was. They casually told me that someone else had taken it. Instead of apologizing or making a fresh one, they grabbed a croissant straight out of the freezer, put it in a wrinkled bag, and handed it to me without even heating it—despite heating everyone else’s pastries. The lack of customer service and basic care was extremely disappointing. I definitely wouldn’t recommend ordering food here.
