  Had a wonderful time here. The restaurant was clean and well maintained, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Service was attentive without being overwhelming, and the environment felt cozy and welcoming. Definitely a place I would visit again.

Located inside the historic Candler Hotel, the restaurant offers a refined atmosphere with beautiful décor that feels both modern and timeless. The food was outstanding from start to finish. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared, beautifully presented, and packed with flavor. The menu strikes a great balance between elevated dining and approachable comfort, making it ideal for both special occasions and casual nights out. The cocktails at the bar were equally impressive — creative, well-balanced, and crafted with attention to detail. What truly stood out was the service. The staff was welcoming, knowledgeable, and attentive without ever feeling intrusive. Their recommendations were spot on and added to the overall experience.

  Our waitress, Shakay gave us an amazing experience. Brunch was delicious, I ordered Shrimp and Grits. One of the best I have ever ate in my life. Big 'ol shrimps, well balanced grits and gravy. It was an orchestra being conducted in my mouth and tummy. I will be back to "By George" and The Candler Hotel.

  We stopped by By George last Friday (May 1st) for a dinner and were completely satisfied with our experience. Dean (or it might have been Evan) was our server. He was professional and had great interpersonal skills. He gave us some good recommendations for food. My wife got the surf and turf and I got the shrimp and grits. The shrimp and grits was the best dish I ate for the entirety of our stay in Atlanta (3 days). Each bite was better than the last it seemed. If we go back to Atlanta we will absolutely be making reservations for this place.

  Visually, this place is flawless. The space is stunning — refined, elegant, and clearly designed to impress. From the moment you walk in, it feels like a high-end experience. Service follows the same standard: polished, attentive, and genuinely pleasant. Unfortunately, the food tells a very different story. Given the prices, expectations are naturally high — but what arrived on the plate felt surprisingly underwhelming. My salad, for instance, was missing key components and ended up feeling more like an afterthought than a carefully crafted dish. For a restaurant positioned at this level, that’s hard to overlook.
