When family came into town, we decided to give this location a try. We usually visit the Melbourne Beach location, but we wanted to support this one instead.
The parking lot was full when we arrived, but thankfully there was still plenty of parking available. They also have a quaint covered outdoor seating area with about six tables. If it hadn't been so hot outside, we definitely would have enjoyed sitting out there.
When I first walked in to check on the wait time, I stood at the host stand for what felt like quite a while without any acknowledgment. Eventually, someone greeted me and let me know the wait would be about 20–25 minutes, which was perfectly fine. Two of us waited inside while the other two stayed in the car.
A few minutes later, two women who appeared to be regulars came in. I want to be clear - I don't care if you're a first-time guest or someone who visits every day; every customer deserves the same treatment. The hostess told them the wait would be about 25–30 minutes. Then the owner (or manager) came over, greeted them, and started trying to seat them right away. Thankfully, the hostess interrupted him and pointed out that our party of four had been waiting first. He responded, "We'll make it work." I'm sure the look on my face said everything. I think he quickly realized how that situation looked because, in the end, we were seated before they were. Had I been outside waiting or not paying attention, I'm not convinced it would have worked out that way.
Once seated, things became a little chaotic. One server came to take our drink order, then another, and then a third. It seemed like everyone was helping each other, which is great, but there didn't appear to be much communication between the staff.
Here's what we ordered:
- Flounder with onion rings: The onion rings were crispy and delicious. The flounder had good flavor but was definitely over-fried.
- All-American Breakfast: The eggs were ordered over easy but arrived overcooked. The bacon was just okay and lacked the smoky flavor you'd expect.
- Baked oatmeal with bananas: The bananas were fresh, but the oatmeal itself wasn't.
- Tuna melt on sourdough with chips: This was fresh and probably the standout meal at the table.
Our bill came to around $70, and unfortunately, the overall meal didn't feel like a great value.
The service itself was attentive. Even though there seemed to be a lot of moving parts and some confusion among the staff, we never had to wait long for refills or anything we needed. The restaurant was also very clean, which we appreciated.
Overall, it wasn't a bad experience, but nothing we ordered left us wanting to come back specifically for the food.
