Me and two of my kids were first time visitors to Mel’s hotdog restaurant and we visited the location yesterday on Bush and we loved it. We had a couple family members that have been there and so there were mixed reviews, so I wanted to come in and get a review for myself. we bought the kids meal, the snack dog and we made it into a bacon cheddar dog, so there was an up charge of about three dollars. I will say the prices are reasonable, but they can get pricey if you add things, but the customer service, the atmosphere and the total vibe of Mel’s hotdog was awesome and the hotdog with the poppyseed bun was top-tier. We loved it. We can’t wait to come back to get the rodeo dog and some of the other hotdog dogs and bring more of my family. I definitely recommend.

I give the food two stars not because of quality, I mean, it's a hot dog. But I give it two stars for price. I paid $24 for two dogs with slaw and onions, fries and a soda, with tip. If you're a hot dog snob, go for it.

The Chicago-style Italian beef was really good being from Chicago I know what a good Italian beef is I will give it a 8 out of 10 which is a good rating the only reason give them that is because the size and the peppers wasn't as hot it was not giarnier peppers compared to Chicago but it did have a little spice to it I give m e l s 8 out of 10
Food was ok. Didn't try the burger, but my son liked it. The 1/4 lbs hot dog was literally the same size as the regular size dogs. For $1.50 more, it wasn't worth it. Service was great. Staff was very very friendly, which we liked a lot. But for 3 Chilli dogs, 1 regular dog and 1 plain hamburger with shareable fries and 3 drinks, it all came out to $66. Each dog was like $8 a piece! Costco dogs are a bit better but are actually 1/4lbs for $1.50 with a drink. I think it would have been fair to maybe spend about $45 for what we received. I honestly think it was over priced.
Where is Pamela? Because this would never have happened on her watch. The place was a complete mess. No ice in the self‑serve machine, and the soda was completely flat. When I asked for ice, I was told I was “doing it wrong,” only for another employee to admit it’s been broken since yesterday. Y’all owe me $9 — nobody wants hot, flat soda.
Our order was also a disaster. They put our entire party’s food on one tray and duplicated the first ticket’s order. I had to return our $9 hot dog just to get the correct one, and then was told adding cheese to a chili dog would be an extra $1.50. What? I had to bring attention your mistake and you want to catch an attitude with me? Pamela, please come back.
I tipped, but honestly felt taken advantage of after spending $63.
