I came to this restaurant around 6:00 AM very excited to finally try the mangú. It was my first time ordering it, and I was especially happy because I had been looking for this dish for a long time. I was even looking at the menu and my receipt because I was considering ordering more food to take home to my family.
Unfortunately, that excitement quickly turned into a very uncomfortable experience.
While I was looking at the menu, I noticed the owner making faces that clearly looked like he was annoyed or irritated with me. Another employee also started giving me dirty looks. I was simply looking at the menu and deciding what else I might order. I was not being rude, difficult, or demanding in any way. When I received my food, I politely asked if he was the owner because I wanted to address the situation. He said he was. I calmly told him that the way he was looking at me and making faces made me feel very uncomfortable and that customers should not be treated that way.
His response was extremely rude and dismissive. Instead of apologizing or simply acknowledging my concern, he kept saying, “Ma’am, it’s very early. It’s very early,” in a very disrespectful tone. If you don’t want to deal with customers that early, then don’t be open at that time.
What makes this even more disappointing is that I was genuinely excited to support this restaurant and try a dish I had been searching for. After the way I was treated, I no longer felt comfortable eating the food I purchased.
I cannot speak to the quality of the food because, after this experience, I decided not to eat it. The customer service was enough to completely ruin my first experience with this restaurant.
I have never had a restaurant owner make me feel so unwelcome simply for looking at a menu. Extremely rude, unprofessional, and disappointing.
I would not return, and I would not recommend this restaurant based on the customer service I experienced.
