  The low rating has nothing to do with the food, as the food has always been great. Love the Brisket, Catfish, Baked Beans and Green Beans. The low rating is due to the unprofessional staff. We drove the customary 25 miles to eat at Hanks on my Birthday which was a Sunday. The posted times for the food service on a Sunday are 12 - 7:00 PM. We arrived at approximately 5:35 PM and were greeted with " You will be ordering take out correct?" At which point we responded no, we are eating here. At which point the young man behind the register stated "You know we close at 7:00", at which point I stated well "it appears to be be 5:35 PM so we will be eating here" at which point the young man stated "Well we start closing things down and cleaning up at 6:15". Silence ensued, and then we ordered our food to eat inside the establishment. We had 6 in our party, large check and no tip. After we ordered and sat down there were 4 other groups that came in before 6:00 PM and were greeted with same the unprofessional verbiage. Well that was enough for us, specifically my wife who decided to explain how rude and unprofessional the young man and the staff behind the counter were acting and how it showed no class or customer service. At first the response was "we want to get home to our families". Well don't take the Sunday til 7:00 PM shift. There was no Manager on duty, or if there was he was quiet as a mouse and hiding in the back. Unfortunately, the poorly trained staff was unprofessional and rude. Like I stated at the start the food has always been great, but I won't be driving 25 miles to have to deal with rude and unprofessional staff.

  Smoked sausage as part of a catered meal was fabulous. Arrived hot, juicy, and turned out to be the crowd favorite

  My friend and I ate here. I got pulled pork, fried okra, and corn on the cob. My friend got the fried catfish. The food was really good. I even tried the fried catfish. The decor, like most barbecue restaurants, is rustic. Rustic is right for a place like this. Service is minimal. What service there was, was good. The young lady was very polite. The place looked clean. Definitely worth dropping by for victuals, y'all.

  Used the App to order To-Go, it was fast and easy and my food was ready when I showed up. The Ribs were great along with the collards!!👍👍
