  I’ve been to St. Augustine many times and have eaten at pretty much every restaurant in town, but this little place completely exceeded my expectations. We actually found it by accident. We came to St. Augustine in the morning looking for somewhere to have breakfast, and a random passerby told us about it. What an incredible recommendation! I would honestly call this place a hidden gastronomic gem of St. Augustine. It’s a small breakfast and brunch spot with such a huge and interesting selection that choosing what to order is almost impossible. I especially loved the menu because there are so many healthy options — and they have photos of the dishes, which somehow makes the decision even harder because everything looks amazing. The atmosphere is completely unique. It’s beautiful, cozy, charming, and unlike any other breakfast place I’ve been to. The people who work there are incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the food is absolutely delicious. How delicious? We came back the very next morning because there were so many things we still wanted to try. Apparently, though, this “hidden gem” isn’t quite as hidden as we thought! The second time we came, we had to wait about 30 minutes for a table. And honestly, after eating there, I completely understand why so many people are willing to wait. I definitely recommend making a reservation if you can. This was easily one of my favorite food discoveries in St. Augustine, and I will absolutely be coming back. Amazing food, wonderful people, a fantastic atmosphere, and a breakfast menu that makes you immediately start planning your next visit.

  We had a reservation for 7 people at 10am on a Saturday and were seated right away. The first disappointment was that they only had a premade mimosa (which we later found out was $12, ridiculous), followed by the manager coming over to our table and told us we had to order because they had another reservation. Mind you, the large party next to us had been there prior to us and hadn't received their food yet. In addition, when the reservation was booked, there was nothing limiting our time, so we were just chatting while we waited on somebody stuck in traffic. Then, the food comes out, not only is the toast cold, but one of our meals was missing and they clearly forgot about it. Then to top it all off, they added 20% gratuity to each of our checks, even though it states on the front of the menu that auto gratuity is only added to parties of 8 or more (we had 7), probably because they knew they weren't going to get 20% from us. Overall, it was a disappointing experience for a place with such great reviews, the food was mediocre at best, overpriced, and I have never been told to order food at any restaurant, even those at a much higher quality and price point. Will not be returning or recommending.

  Our experience at The Modern Rose in St. Augustine was more than amazing! From the moment we walked in, everything was absolutely wonderful. The food was delicious, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. The service was exceptional—friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Depending on the day and time you visit, you may need to be a little patient with the wait, but honestly, it is absolutely worth it! The quality of the food, the service, and the overall experience make it well worth waiting for. The atmosphere was fantastic, and you can tell that a lot of care and attention to detail goes into everything they do. Definitely a place we will be coming back to whenever we are in St. Augustine. Highly recommended!

  Modern Rose is such a beautiful and unique restaurant. From the moment you walk in, the ambiance and decor make you feel like you’ve stepped into somewhere truly special. The quaint, intimate layout with room for around 40 guests creates an atmosphere that feels personal, warm, and inviting. But what really makes Modern Rose stand out are the owners, Shahan and Melanie. Their passion for hospitality is evident in everything they do. They genuinely care about their guests and have created a place where people feel welcomed, comfortable, and right at home. The attention to detail, the charming surroundings, and the genuine hospitality make this a wonderful addition to St. Augustine. You can feel the heart and soul that Shahan and Melanie have put into creating this experience. If you’re looking for a beautiful, intimate restaurant with exceptional hospitality and a truly special atmosphere, Modern Rose is absolutely worth visiting. Five stars all the way! 🌹✨

  I went when they first opened and it was amazing! They would sing mama Mia songs and it was like a show with delicious food. I recently went and it just looks like they have gone downhill a little bit. The food and drinks are still delicious but it doesn’t have that same fun vibe it once had. I miss that! I asked how come they don’t sing anymore and they said they just don’t. Ok… :( Also, both times I had a reservation and I had to wait 10+ additional minutes past my reservation time.
