The chicken kebab came with a medley of perfectly cooked fresh vegetables and tasted delicious. I will definitely be going back to Stella's.
- ADAustin DunkMay 13, 20265.0I had given up on real Greek food in Sarasota until I came across Stella's. We've been there five times in the past few months and I can say we've never been disappointed. This is a hidden gem-- a small, family owned restaurant with an emphasis on quality food. The majority of their menu is made in house, even the spanakopita, which is rare to find with labor being an expensive input and most restaurants cutting costs where they can. They're also using mainly organic produce too, which I appreciate. With Greek cuisine, I've noticed people have a tendency I stick to their favorite dishes and I suggest going with what you like. But I do recommended trying their lentil soup. It is an excellent blend of flavors with the herbs, lemon, and salt being bold and well balanced, and a drizzle of olive oil added just before serving-- it's as authentic as you'll find. The same goes for their desserts. We've tried them all-- none are prepackaged and they are worth the indulgence. For example the flavor of their baklava is nothing like the overly sweet and nearly tasteless mass produced ones which are so commonly served. Things to note: Reservations are needed. Plan at least a day ahead during November to April (some days it's fully booked) Secondly, being a small restaurant, they do occasionally sell out of items on the menu, even early in the evening. I'm okay with it since they're not running to a freezer to open a bag from Sysco/Cheney/GFS/etc. and just substitute with something else. Finally feel free to speak Greek to the owners too, they're legit!
