Can it be true? A 100% industrial seed oil-free fine dining restaurant that's also 100% gluten-free...even with "fried" chicken on the menu?
It is true. And it is DELICIOUS. Comida, you have my heart.
I have been in the restaurant industry for almost 20 years, and in addition an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach it is difficult to find restaurants that meet my standards, especially in the fine dining space. Comida meets my standards!
I'm not strictly gluten-free, but being able to order anything on the menu without my health coach brain going into overdrive is such a gift. No wondering what oil they're cooking with. No questioning what type of flour they're using. No asking if there's gluten hidden in a sauce. No mental gymnastics. I can simply relax, enjoy the experience, and trust what's being served. This is rare, and it is so appreciated.
And the food? Wow. Fresh and simple - period. The Picana steak is without question, one of the best steaks I've had in my lifetime. The flavor is absolutely incredible. The chimmichuri is perfection. The scallops are fantastic, and don't even get me started on the smoked sun dried tomato and guajillo sauce...I bring whatever is left home and put it on my eggs the next morning. The coconut and masa pudding desert - wow - an out of the box thoughtful dish, with complex flavors and textures. It was perfect because I was so full and it wasn't heavy to put me in a food coma.
A special shoutout to Robert, our server that last time we dined. He was fantastic! Patient, knowledgeable, happy to answer every question, and made us feel completely comfortable..when we especially took our time deciding since at this time they were out of the Picana which we came for - but, they definitely made up for it - thank you to the manager on duty at the time!! Cheers to you, we will be back!
At the end of the day, we're all just normal people trying to enjoy a great meal with the people we love, and Robert helped make that experience even better.
I would love to see more restaurants like Comida in the world, restaurants that prioritize wholesome, high-quality ingredients and put integrity at the forefront of everything they do. The cost may be a little higher, but when I know the quality and sourcing behind what I'm eating, I don't mind paying for it. That's value.
Thank you Comida <3 Don't change!
