I had an unpleasant experience with a crew member that talked to me disrespectfully out of nowhere. I had placed an online order for pickup, and I arrived to pick it up and got in line. When I got to the register, I told the woman at the register (short, small-ish white woman, glasses, dark-ish hair, likely 50s or older in age) that I had an order for pickup. She said nothing and just gestured to the orders over on the shelf. I walked up to the shelf and saw a couple of orders that weren’t mine, and then on the counter toward the end of the shelf I saw a few other orders, one which I read the receipt and confirmed my name before touching and picked up. She immediately started shouting at me “Ma’am, ma’am you can’t be over here, and you need to ask someone before taking people’s food!” and she said I had stepped over a “line” I wasn’t supposed to cross. I obviously didn’t know this and wasn’t trying to do anything wrong. There also wasn’t any tape or anything on the floor to depict a line? And she had literally gestured for me to walk over there? I do not understand why I was talked to like a pig stealing someone’s food or trying to do something I shouldn’t be. The tone and aggression was 0 to 100 out of nowhere, when she could have just asked me to step back or something. Or, you know, asked my name and handed me my order instead of gesturing for me to go find it and then yelling at me when I go look? Anyway, when I realized I had stepped over a line (literally with one shoe by the way - this wasn’t like me walking into the kitchen blatantly or something), I immediately backed up and was holding my bag, and said, “Ma’am, you just waved me over here?” in response, and she scoffed “NOT over here,” and then told me to have a good day in a sarcastic tone. I really don’t understand why I was treated like this - I wasn’t trying to do anything wrong, I had told her I had a pickup order, and I was given no direction beyond being motioned to her left to go where the ready-to-go bags were. The whole barking at me thing and the comment of “You can’t just start taking people’s food without asking” was really rude, beyond rude honestly, and also, doesn’t make sense? If that were the case why didn’t she tell me to stand and wait or just ask my name when I said I had a pickup order? She literally gestured for me to head in the direction of the pickup orders, explained nothing, then was somehow surprised when I started to look for my pickup order. I also did not touch any bags that weren’t mine and was visibly checking the receipts first. Anyway, I feel like I was just spoken to like cattle or an inconvenience, I have no understanding of why I was just talked to like this when I wasn’t trying to be disrespectful or rude in anyway, and was just trying to follow the (lack of) instructions being gestured to that area. My order was for around 1:30 p.m., I believe I got there around 1:35 pm or slightly later, and today is Thursday, July 23, 2026, for context so you can know who it was. It was a woman at the register. I don’t know what the employee’s problem was today, but she NEEDS to be spoken to about how she talks to customers. It would be different if I had been rude or had been pushy, and I know you probably get a lot of Karens, but I was polite and didn’t deserve to be spoken to like that nor embarrassed like that. All she had to say was, “Please see if you see your order on the shelf” or just ask my name and hand me the bag. I am disappointed, wish I’d said something further calling this out but honestly couldn’t believe it, and will not be returning to this location. Please speak to this employee about how they talk to customers.
