I visit Dunkin several times a week and rotate between a few different locations, but unfortunately my recent experience at this location was terrible enough that I won’t be returning.
During a previous visit at another Dunkin location, I was kindly given a Hometown Heroes card after the employee noticed my scrubs and nurse leader badge. It’s not even for a free drink, it just allows a discounted medium beverage for healthcare workers at participating locations.
When I pulled up to order yesterday morning, the employee working the drive-thru was extremely rude from the start. Instead of a simple “Good morning” or “Welcome to Dunkin,” I was greeted with “What do you want?” After placing my order, she responded with “Is that it?” and then said nothing else before putting the total on the screen.
At the window, I handed her the Hometown Heroes card, simply assuming it was accepted since it was given to me at another Dunkin location. She looked at me like I was an inconvenience and rudely said, “We don’t take those.” I explained that I had received it from another Dunkin, and she continued speaking to me in a very condescending tone, saying, “Well you didn’t get it from us. That’s only at participating locations and we aren’t one of them.”
There was no smile, no apology for the confusion, no thank you, and no “have a nice day.” I even had to ask for my receipt. To make matters worse, my coffee was made incorrectly. I order the exact same simple coffee every time, medium with cream and sugar, and this tasted like it only had cream.
Customer service matters, especially first thing in the morning. I completely understand people have bad days, but this employee genuinely seemed unhappy to be dealing with customers at all. I’ll gladly drive the extra few minutes to the other Dunkin locations nearby where the staff are friendly, welcoming, and consistently make orders correctly.
