I don’t usually leave reviews, especially not negative ones, but this has been too consistent to ignore.
This is about the Chipotle Honey Chicken. It came back on April 28th, and I’ve gone to this location every single day since trying to get it. Not once — every day. And every day it’s the same thing: “sorry, we’re out, we’ve been slammed.”
I get it. I’ve worked in food. I used to run a food truck. Selling out happens. That’s not the problem. The problem is it keeps happening over and over and nothing is changing.
And just to be clear, it’s not like I’m showing up at the wrong time. I’ve come 30 minutes after opening — already out. I’ve come a few hours after opening — out. Dinner time — out. Even close to closing — out. So it’s basically an all day issue.
Yesterday (May 1st), I even tried to get ahead of it and placed a mobile order 30 minutes early just for the honey chicken. When I got there, I was told it would still be another 25 minutes. At that point, what’s the point of ordering ahead?
Today (May 2nd) was when I finally gave up.
I stood in line for about 35 minutes. There was one person actually working the line, and a few others — including who looked like the manager — just kind of standing around talking and watching the grill.
When I finally got up there, I asked about the honey chicken and was told it would be another 25 minutes.
Here’s the part that didn’t make sense. There was chicken already on the grill. I asked about it and was told that one was for regular chicken, not the honey chicken. But the regular chicken on the line was already full.
Meanwhile, there were at least 5 people behind me who also only wanted the honey chicken, and every single one of them left.
So you’ve got chicken cooking, your regular chicken is already stocked, and a line of people all wanting the same item… and nothing gets adjusted?
On top of that, the place itself wasn’t in great shape. Every table I saw was dirty, trash on the floor, trash cans full. I understand it’s a Saturday at the mall, but still.
I even tried to ask the manager in a respectful way. I said I’m not trying to be any kind of way, but if you know this is your most popular item, why are you letting it run out? And he just said “I’m sorry, there’s nothing I can do.”
But there is something you can do. That’s literally the job.
And one more thing that really bothered me — I watched one of the employees making food see his friends walk in. He kept the same gloves on, walked away to talk to them, put his hands in his pockets, then came back and kept serving food without changing gloves or washing his hands. That’s just basic food safety.
At this point it’s not just about being out of something. It’s management, communication, cleanliness — all of it.
The crazy part is the food itself is actually really good. That’s why I kept coming back trying to get it. But it’s just not worth it anymore.
This location really needs to figure out how to handle something that’s clearly in high demand, because right now it just feels unorganized and frustrating.
