If I could give zero stars, I would. This was one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve had with Pizza Hut.
I placed a DELIVERY order for a reason — because I did not want to have to leave my house. The employee got my order wrong, and because of HIS mistake, I had to stop what I was doing, get my baby out of the house, load him up, and drive all the way to the store to get the pizza I was supposed to receive correctly in the first place.
And yes, I even brought the incorrect pizza back with me.
After inconveniencing me that much, the least he could have done was apologize, offer a store credit, discount my order, give me something toward a future order, or simply let me keep the pizza that THEY messed up. He did none of that. He took the incorrect pizza back, gave me absolutely nothing for the inconvenience, and had a nasty attitude on top of it like I was the one who caused the problem.
Then he wanted to mention that they had around 30 orders. Respectfully, that is not my problem as the customer. I did not make your staffing schedule, I did not accept the 30 orders, and I did not make the mistake. If your store is busy, then management and employees need to figure out how to handle the volume efficiently. Being busy does not give you permission to mess up someone’s order and then treat the customer like they are bothering you when they ask you to fix it.
What really irritated me was the attitude. Mistakes happen. I understand that. But when YOU make the mistake, you should be apologetic and trying to make the situation right — not rude, irritated, dismissive, and acting like the customer is inconveniencing you.
I paid for DELIVERY. Instead, I ended up doing part of Pizza Hut’s job myself by driving to the store to correct an order that should have been right before it ever left the building. Then, after getting my baby out of the house and driving up there, I STILL had to wait for the correct pizza to be made.
So basically, I paid for delivery, received the wrong food, had to drive to the store myself, returned the incorrect pizza, waited for another pizza, received no compensation whatsoever, and got a nasty attitude from the employee who was responsible for fixing the situation.
How exactly is that acceptable customer service?
And please don’t use “we had 30 orders” as an excuse. Customers should not have to lower their expectations because a restaurant is busy. If I’m paying full price, delivery fees, taxes, and whatever other charges come with placing an order, I expect my order to be correct. And if it isn’t correct, I expect the business to make it right without treating me like I’m the problem.
He could have easily turned this situation around by simply saying, “I apologize for the mistake and the inconvenience. Since you had to come all the way up here, let me offer you a credit,” or even, “Go ahead and keep the incorrect pizza.” Instead, he chose to take the pizza back, offer me nothing, and have an attitude.
That tells me everything I need to know about the level of customer service at this location.
I will think twice before ordering from this Pizza Hut again. The mistake itself wasn’t even the biggest issue — it was the complete lack of accountability, professionalism, and basic courtesy afterward. When your business makes the mistake, you fix it and take care of the customer. You do not make the customer jump through hoops and then act annoyed because they expect what they actually paid for.
