Nothing better than stopping in at the Whiskey Kitchen for some great food, friendly smiles and, if you are lucky. Sal & Izy will be playing!

I hate to make this review, I’m in this place all the time but the last couple of times service has been slow and the servers have been overwhelmed. Let me say that Tatyana was absolutely not the problem at ALL. It was clear she was working as best as possible with the cards she was dealt. She was running the bar while managing 6 tables so I can understand why things are behind. She told us that the bartender was running late and hopefully would relieve her soon. Bartender didn’t show up for about 30 minutes which left this poor girl running around for that time. From a former restaurant manager, if this is a consistent issue then it might be a great opportunity to train the host on how to grab and run non-alcoholic beverages. In a situation like this, it should always be all hands on deck. One person should never be doing the job of 2-3 people and it’s very unfair to Tatyana that she had to take on bartending on top of running her own tables. On a positive note, food was great as always. Everything came out fresh and delicious.

Old crabby bartender screeched at us as we walked in the place that she was busy an we’d need to wait to be seated. The place was mostly empty and we were headed for the bar. Whatever.
The place was very cool and the solo acoustic girl was really good. The old crab did finally come by and after some unpleasantries, we had a drink and left for a more friendly environment.

We stopped in here for a "brunch" on Sunday. Two if our party ordered the chicken and waffle special that featured their whiskey syrup. The name is literally whiskey syrup chicken and waffles. When it showed up, the waffle was ego size and the chicken was strips, although barely larger than nuggets. The kicker? No whiskey syrup! When questioned, the server said they hadn't made any in a while. So a premier brunch special that was barely Denny's quality.
We won't be returning.

The entire inside was closed off for a private party. We could have sat outside but with temp in high 90's and humidity in high 80's we decided to have dinner at a different restaurant.
Well, the one star indicated I had no review which was not an option. The hostess at the door told us the entire inside was closed for a private party. We did not question her, why would we?
MDPD or a retail cashier, did not matter. I did not want to eat outside. My preference.
And we did have a great time , always do in Mount Dora.
