I wish I would’ve got his name but I’m looking at the ticket we got in the drive through and it says Jamar. Jamar-thank you . I can’t even tell you how grateful I am of your kindness and understanding. The past month has been so chaotic and for a second you helped calm the storm and you were genuine. People will give an “I’m sorry” but there’s no meaning behind it but you “got it” and were completely genuine. We are the couple that told you we’re watching our mother die and she stopped eating days ago and we were desperate to get her to eat. You told us what would be best for her in your opinion and guess what? We took her the food and she actually took a few bites! The way you were with us brought me to tears . We drove up to pick up the food at the window expecting to pay but the receipt said zero balance. You bought our dying mother a meal and I don’t know if it’ll be her last but I promise you, we will never forget you. Your kindness just -I can’t even explain it. Thank you.

I wanted to share an experience I had at the Mount Dora Chick-fil-A on Monday, May 18th that left me genuinely disappointed, especially because this is not the level of service I normally associate with Chick-fil-A. Before my son’s baseball practice, I placed an order for my family of six. The practice field is about 25 minutes away, so once we arrived, I unpacked the food only to realize that a 12-count nugget meal was completely missing from the order. At that point, my children were already hungry and everyone else had food except the child whose meal was missing. I called the restaurant immediately and explained the situation. I was told to come back and ask for “Lexi” at the counter for the replacement order. So instead of being able to stay at my son’s practice and enjoy time with my family, I had to leave, drive 25 minutes back to the restaurant, and then another 25 minutes back again. What should have been a quick family dinner before practice turned into almost an extra hour of inconvenience for my children. What surprised me most was not the missing food itself — mistakes happen. It was how the situation was handled afterward. When I arrived back at the restaurant, no manager approached me, acknowledged the inconvenience, or apologized. In fact, aside from a young employee I approached for help, I barely received any acknowledgment at all. I was told on the phone to ask for Lexi, but if Lexi was the manager on duty, there was no introduction, apology, or attempt to make the situation right in a meaningful way. The young employee handed me the replacement food and appeared ready to send me on my way. I calmly asked if there was any sort of compensation available for the inconvenience — even something small like cookies for my kids, considering they had already waited nearly an extra hour to eat while everyone else at practice had already finished their meals. She went to ask someone I assumed was the manager on duty and returned with a card for a free sandwich or nuggets in the future. When I asked, “This is it?” she simply shrugged and replied, “Yeah.” At that point, I was honestly more disappointed than angry. I chose not to cause a scene or ask to speak to a manager because, truthfully, I felt a manager should have already stepped in without being asked. What made this experience stand out even more was that it was completely different from my previous experience at this exact location. The last time I visited this Chick-fil-A, I had to wait an extra 10 minutes in the drive-thru because nuggets were not ready yet. During that visit, the staff was extremely apologetic the entire time. They willingly gave me several free sandwich cards and brownies simply because of a short delay. They absolutely did not have to do that, but they chose to because they clearly cared about the customer experience. That previous interaction is actually one of the reasons I continued to hold this location and Chick-fil-A in such high regard. So to go from that level of hospitality and attentiveness to an experience where my family lost nearly an hour of our evening, my children were left waiting hungry, and no manager could even offer a sincere apology felt incredibly disappointing. One of the reasons people consistently choose Chick-fil-A is because the company has built a reputation around customer service, accountability, and hospitality. That reputation is the reason this experience stood out so negatively to me. In past experiences at Chick-fil-A locations, even small inconveniences were met with sincere apologies and genuine efforts to make customers feel valued. This interaction felt cold, dismissive, and transactional. I’m not writing this simply because an item was forgotten. I’m writing because the response afterward made my family feel like our time and inconvenience did not matter. I hope this feedback is taken seriously, not to punish anyone, but because this experience did not reflect the standard of care and hospitality Chick-fil-A is known for.

Recently moved to Mount Dora, the past 2 times I decided to go through the drive-through they messed up my order first they didn’t give my kid grilled nuggets when that’s what I asked for, and today I decided to try their new jalapeño ranch sandwich. And they somehow messed up that order as well and gave me a regular sandwich with no cheese just bread, chicken and pickles.
