Over the past two weeks, I have visited this Dunkin five times and spent approximately $35 during my most recent visit. Four of those visits involved the same young male employee working the drive-thru. Unfortunately, each interaction has been unpleasant. He consistently appears irritated, unfriendly, and uninterested in customer service. As someone who has worked in customer service for many years, I understand that everyone has bad days. During one visit, I even tried to encourage him by saying that life is too short and hoping to make him smile. Before I could finish speaking, he abruptly closed the drive-thru window without saying “thank you,” “have a nice day,” or anything at all. What concerns me most is that this does not appear to be an isolated incident or simply a bad day. My experience has been the same on four separate visits. In contrast, when a female employee assisted me on Monday, she was friendly, welcoming, and provided excellent customer service. The food quality was also noticeably better. On my most recent visit, the food was disappointing. The bread was burned to the point that it was difficult to eat, while the bacon was undercooked. For the amount customers spend, they should be able to expect both quality food and courteous service. At this point, I would rather drive to the Harbor City Dunkin, where the customer service is consistently excellent and the food and drinks are prepared properly. Life is hard enough for many people. A simple smile, friendly interaction, and properly prepared food can make a big difference in someone’s day. I hope management addresses these concerns, as there are many people who would appreciate the opportunity to have and value a customer-facing job.
