Came to this restaurant a few months ago with my sister, cousin and a friend during our time in Florida. Although haven't gotten a right chance to write the review, but now finally taking it.
MAYU is a culinary cuisine, with large variety of dishes to choose from, although quite expensive. A pretty elaborate menu. The food is between heavy and light and in the end you'll be overall satisfied. The dishes have unique spices and flavoring. The restaurant's bowls are perfectly crafted from actual rocks. And hosts or server is calmly nice and very helpful.
And there's an outdoor patio seating, with the beautiful urban vibes as well. All in all, this would be one of the best meal spots for anyone visiting Miami, or living locally. One of the hidden gems this is.
The food was great as were the drinks which made up for terribly disrespectful waiter service. I was properly greeted by the waiter while my date (female) was totally ignored, no welcome to her, not even a look in her direction. I was told about the great drinks and how the “old fashioned” would be great for me for some reason, again totally ignoring my date. It definitely left us uncomfortable, my date even pointed out to the waiter “I am here too”. I eventually confronted the waiter about why he ignored her, he responded with something about culture and males being the leaders of something weird and very outdated. For the service from this waiter I will never return!
I’ve travelled to multiple countries in the last year alone, and I can genuinely say that Mayu was one of the best dining experiences of my life. Not just the best sushi I’ve ever had, but honestly some of the best food I’ve ever eaten anywhere in the world.
Every single dish was exceptional. The quality, creativity, balance of flavours, presentation, everything felt on another level. It completely changed my standards for sushi and fine dining. I genuinely didn’t know food could taste like this.
What made the experience even more special was our server, Jose. His knowledge of the menu and ingredients was incredible, and his level of customer service was far beyond what you normally experience, even in high-end restaurants. He knew absolutely everything, gave amazing recommendations, and made us feel welcomed from start to finish. He genuinely felt like part of the heart and soul of the restaurant, not just someone serving tables.
This place is something special. One of those rare experiences you keep thinking about long after you leave.

Was looking for a place to dine on our last day in Miami. Scary part was that I’m in Miami with my Husband and in-laws and they LOVE AND APPRECIATE FOOD. So the expectations were high. I rolled the dice and chose MAYU, a Peruvian restaurant located on the outskirts of Brickell.
As soon as we walked into the restaurant the host was super welcoming. We got sat and immediately got greeted by our server ALEXANDER who happened to be a key element in our food experience. Many might overlook his presence as people are trying to look at the menu and figure out what they want to eat, but if you pay close attention the server, he will guide you to the best food experience you will ever encounter.
Food we had in order:
1. Ceviche Classico 100/100 ( my husbands rating)
2. Ceviche del barrio 10/10
3. Acevichado roll 10/10
4. Hotate Parma without cream cheese 10/10
5. Pulpo anticuchero 10/10 (the octopus was so tender and delicious
6. Lomo saltado 10/10 ( amazing tender meat) must have !!
Just as we were getting ready to leave we met Santiago, the manager and I asked him, “Why don’t you have a Michelin star?!?!?” My mind was blown by how delicious and beautiful this food was.
I wish them the best. This is truly a place to come and enjoy amazing Peruvian food. HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT.
If you’re a local here, DO NOT WALK PAST THIS ESTABLISHMENT.
A special thanks to Alexander who made our experience amazing by explaining every dish and making us feel as if we were dining at his home.

Exceptional Flavors & First-Class Service
Mayu Peruvian Food is a standout in Miami’s dining scene. The menu offers a beautiful balance of traditional Peruvian roots and modern execution—the flavors are vibrant, fresh, and perfectly balanced.
What truly elevated the experience, however, was the service. Jose was outstanding. He was attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and ensured everything flowed seamlessly throughout the meal. It’s rare to find service that is both professional and genuinely welcoming, but Jose nailed it.
If you’re looking for high-quality Peruvian cuisine paired with a top-tier atmosphere, this is the spot. I’ll definitely be back.
Highlight: Ask for Jose if you want your night to go from great to exceptional!
