Ordered for the first time via Ubereats.
1) The chicken shawarma was cold, as if it was prepared hours ago, and the chicken did not have shawarma taste to it. Filled with cabbage and tahini sauce and not much more.
2) The Borscht soup was cold (as if it had been sitting in refrigerator overnight)
3) Yellow rice was stale and chewy, almost rubbery
4) Complimentary baklava looked old, as if it was frozen previously.
Not the quality I expected given the other reviews.
I had mixed feelings about this Mediterranean restaurant. The atmosphere was pleasant and welcoming, and the menu was surprisingly diverse, offering dishes from Georgia, Turkey, and Israel. While it's an unusual combination, I appreciated the variety.
The biggest issue was the service coming out of the kitchen. On a Friday night, there was only one chef handling dine-in tables, takeout orders, and delivery orders. The kitchen was clearly overwhelmed, and the wait times reflected it. When customers are hungry and the restaurant is busy, having a single chef trying to manage everything is not a great look.
To start, the pita bread was fresh and delicious, especially paired with the white sauce. I ordered the lamb platter, but unfortunately they were already out of the salad that normally comes with it, which was disappointing. That said, the portions were generous, and the lamb itself was cooked very well—tender, flavorful, and easily the highlight of the meal.
One thing I noticed was that the chef was cutting raw lamb shawarma and cooking it on the grill to keep up with demand. While I understand the pressure of being understaffed, it highlighted just how backed up the kitchen was. If the restaurant can't keep up with customer volume, especially during peak hours, it may be time to bring in additional help.
Overall, the food quality was good, particularly the lamb, and the portions were satisfying. However, the kitchen struggles and lack of staffing significantly impacted the experience. I'd consider returning for the food, but only if the restaurant improves its ability to handle busy nights.

Mangaal has become our go-to neighborhood spot in Edgewater — we’re regulars for a reason. Brought my brother here for lunch during his visit from out of town and he was just as impressed as I always am. The shared meat platter is the star of the show; it’s hard to find this kind of authentic Georgian and Mediterranean flavor combo anywhere else in the city. Hamza took great care of us and was so accommodating — really makes the experience even better. Great food, great service, and exactly the kind of local gem you want in your own neighborhood. Highly recommend, especially if you’re new to Georgian cuisine and want a great intro.

From the moment I stepped into Mangal in Wynwood, right next to Whole Foods, I was treated with amazing hospitality.
Big shoutout to Hamza — his service was extremely attentive, professional, and genuinely welcoming. He made me feel like I was being treated like a king, without ever making the experience feel stiff or overdone.
The food was delicious, the atmosphere was great, and the whole experience was exactly what good hospitality should feel like.
Thank you, Hamza, and thank you Mangal. I’ll definitely be back.
