I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was disappointing enough to warrant one.
As a guest staying at the hotel, I expected a much higher level of hospitality.
On my first visit, I asked if our table could be moved slightly. I was told it wasn’t possible because the table was reserved. However, throughout our entire meal, no one ever sat there, making the refusal seem unnecessary and inflexible.
Later, I ordered one dish and was served a completely different one. Mistakes happen, but what matters is how they’re handled. No meaningful apology was offered, and there was no attempt to make up for the error. At a restaurant of this caliber, I would have expected at least a small gesture of goodwill, such as offering a complimentary dessert.
The most disappointing experience came two days later. Since I was still staying at the hotel, I called to make a reservation for that same evening. I was initially told that an 8:00 p.m. table was available. I simply asked whether 8:15 p.m. might be possible instead. After a brief hold, the same manager I had dealt with during my previous visit came on the line and told me that 8:15 was not possible—and that the 8:00 p.m. table was no longer available either. She offered no explanation, no alternative, and ended the call abruptly.
It wasn’t the mistakes themselves that left such a poor impression—it was the attitude. Throughout both interactions, the service felt cold, dismissive, and lacking the professionalism and hospitality one expects from a restaurant in a resort.
There are many excellent restaurants in the Florida Keys where guests are treated with warmth and genuine hospitality. Unfortunately, this was not one of them.
