We stayed at the host resort (Tranquility Bay), so we ate here often. It was consistently great—fresh + delicious food, friendly and fast service, and beautiful atmosphere.
I LOVED the Butterfly Risotto. The Filet Mignon was delish, and you can get it with lime cilantro butter or blue cheese crumbles or sautéed onions.
Their key lime cheesecake is the best in the area—and it’s gluten free! They also have an amazing flourless chocolate cake.
They have plenty of gluten free options, and it is marked clearly on the menu.
My only criticism is that the kids macaroni + cheese was made with fake cheese sauce sometimes (but once it was real). At a nice place with these prices, I expect real cheese ALL the time.
I highly recommend Butterfly Cafe whether or not you stay at the resort. :)

Ambiance and service were top notch. Take note that despite what I've read in some reviews there is NO bar in the restaurant. Closest bar is the resorts outdoor Tiki Bar a 5 minute walk from the restaurant. We like to come early and have a drink prior to sitting down for dinner. As far as the food, not sure we ordered correctly but the food was mediocre at best. I had mahi mahi my wife had capellini pomodoro with scallops. The mahi mahi looked great but was a bit overcooked and bland.
Wife's capellini seemed to have way too much sauce. Again, maybe we didn't order the best Dishes but that’s my assessment

We recently ordered to-go from the butterfly cafe while staying at the resort because we had limited time for dinner. It was very expensive (somehow ended up paying $150 for two entrees with no drinks), which would have been fine, but the food was not very good. We had the crab stuffed snapper, which we only had a few bites of and the seafood pasta, which was slightly better, but not nearly worth the price we paid for it. The only good part of the pasta was the scallops, and there was only 2. The fish tasted frozen and just off. My husband, who is the least picky eater I have ever met, wouldn't eat more than a few bites of either dish. Unfortunate, will not be eating here again.

We had a wonderful experience at Butterfly Cafe! The food was absolutely delicious, fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Our server Jasmine was friendly, attentive, and very knowledgeable about the menu. The ambiance was calm, relaxing, and perfect for a nice meal. We’ll definitely be back!
We had been to this restaurant years ago and remember it as being amazing. The restaurant itself is beautiful. The service was good but below what you’d expect for a place selling $50 entrees and tagging on a mandatory 18% gratuity. The food was awful. Every piece of seafood was overcooked. The crab stuffed yellowtail was awful, especially compared to any other restaurants similar prep. The seafood pasta missed on every point. Shrimp overcooked, mahi overcooked, pasta overcooked, sauce….flavorless. Scallop risotto…overcooked and way to much herbs. They must not believe in the use of salt either. At a price of $50 per plate, nothing other than perfection is acceptable but this place’s food rates at 0/5 stars.
