First of all, I’m giving this a 5 out of 5 based on Magic Kingdom restaurant choices, as you must have a park ticket to dine here. Ok, so we have all heard the bad over the years, on Tony’s Town Square. I am living proof that old dogs can learn new tricks (pun and reference to the movie, on purpose!). My daughter and I dined here last night, we were desperate for a sit down restaurant and are regulars at MK, and we are always so disappointed at the other options. Well, after numerous social media posts raving about the change, we went for it. we were starving and checked in at the exact moment that the app allowed. This was about 25 minutes before our actual reservation. We were only a party of two and got seated almost immediately, and the weather was nice so we were lucky and that we got a seat outside. Our server was the most incredible human. I think I’ve ever interacted with in all my ears at Disney World, ever. His name, is Mohammed. You must ask to sit in his area. I’m not messing around. This is a MUST. Let me get straight into the reviews, we did not order drinks, we just had water, we ordered the cheese stick appetizer, I had the beef and my daughter had the penne à la vodka. I wasn’t feeling all that great and asked for a side of plain pasta to go with the beef. By the way, this is the must do trick. Because not realizing it or thinking about it, I ended up dipping the pasta into the sauce of the beef dish and let me tell you something, this kicked it up to a whole other level. The cheese stick was gooey on the inside, crispy on the outside and the sauce does have a bit of heat, but we like that. Definitely enough to share for four people. The penne à la vodka we had heard was a little dry, but we found ours was not at all, and we had asked for a little bit of extra sauce on the side, just in case, but it was not needed. My daughter absolutely loved it, and it was a huge portion. Easily shared. You can also add protein to it, but we didn’t. Her pasta was al dente and the sauce was creamy and flavorful. I ordered the beef dish, which was a slow cooked braised beef, but included some sort of peppers cooked into it, which gave it a salty slightly spicy kick as well which we absolutely love. If you are sensitive to heat this would not be a dish for you. It was tangy and flavorful, and the braised beef was sitting in an au jus that was out of control flavorful without being overpowering. The beef was super tender and plenty to share. They say the potatoes are crispy, but they are not, they are delightfully and deliciously soft and fork-tender nestled underneath the beef, and my daughter couldn’t get enough of them. For dessert we tried the tiramisu but didn’t love it as it’s mostly cream and we like more of a cake style tiramisu, but then she got the flourless chocolate cake, and I got the raspberry sorbet, which is off the menu. And it was fresh raspberry with lots of seeds, and it was amazing. Overall, I cannot recommend this place enough. We spoke to Mohammed at length and he told us that he had started there before the restaurant change and he has seen it go through a whole 180 in terms of quality. The new chef makes everything from scratch in the kitchen on property, he said the only thing they bring in is the actual pasta. Everything else is made there. I highly recommend going to this restaurant in Magic Kingdom, it is now our go to a place to dine. The price is a reasonable, and the food was amazing and just beware that the portions are very large and more than enough to share. I cannot thank Mohammed enough for turning a very tired cranky evening dinner into something magical. He even held up the table for us and convinced us to stay for the parade, and let me tell you it was so incredible. It literally brought tears to my eyes. And we are not parade people. Absolutely amazing. We will be back, we love you, Tonys. Keep up the amazing food service!!! (Side note, the photo of my beef was AFTER I was finished eating, so that’s how much was left!) The photo is of the amazing server, Mohammed.
