Our experience at The Turf Club Bar and Grill began on a strong note the moment we stepped into the foyer. We were warmly greeted by the host stand, checked in efficiently, and seated several minutes ahead of our reservation time. The dining room was only about a quarter full, which contributed to a calm and unhurried atmosphere. The decor evokes a refined clubhouse setting, reminiscent of an upscale golf retreat or equestrian lounge. It feels tasteful and relaxed, while still maintaining a sense of quiet sophistication.
Before our entrées, we were served bread service accompanied by their butter board, which we decided to try. Both were excellent. The bread arrived soft and warm, and the butter board added a flavorful, elevated touch. It was not overly garlicky, which I appreciated. Instead, it leaned more toward the profile of a bruschetta topping, with fresh tomatoes and well-balanced seasoning that complemented the bread nicely.
Our server, Courtney, delivered exceptional service throughout the evening. She struck an excellent balance between attentiveness and subtlety. We never found ourselves waiting or needing to get her attention. She took our orders promptly when we were ready, and her awareness during service stood out. My wife pointed out that our glasses were consistently refreshed before we even noticed they were low, which speaks volumes about the level of care.
For her entrée, my wife chose the char-grilled New York strip steak and substituted mashed potatoes for the standard fries based on Courtney’s recommendation. That suggestion paid off. The steak was expertly prepared to a perfect medium rare, with seasoning that allowed the quality of the meat to shine. The compound butter added a rich, flavorful finish that enhanced the dish without overpowering it.
I ordered the pappardelle scallop pasta, which was equally impressive. The fresh pappardelle was cooked properly and had a satisfying texture. The scallops were beautifully seared, with a light crust on the outside and a tender interior. The asparagus added a welcome element of freshness, and the truffle cream sauce was well balanced. It was light enough to avoid feeling heavy, yet cohesive enough to bring all the components together.
We finished by sharing the New York-style cheesecake, a vanilla cherry variation with cherry panna cotta, graham cookie crust, and cherry compote. The presentation was elegant and inviting. The cheesecake itself was light and airy, and the tart cherry compote provided a nice contrast that made for a well-balanced final bite.
One minor note that may matter depending on your preferences is the limited selection of vegetable-forward sides. Most salads and vegetable-focused dishes are positioned as appetizers rather than entrées, so those looking for more plant-forward or lighter main options may find the menu somewhat limited.
Overall, our visit to The Turf Club was both relaxing and satisfying. Between the comfortable atmosphere, attentive service, and well-executed dishes, this is a restaurant we plan to add to our regular rotation when visiting Walt Disney World.
