It's a nice idea, poorly executed. At the Four Seasons Orlando, Epilogue exists in the space formally used as an early arrivals/late departures lounge. I'm told that before it reopens, it's being transformed from a pop-up to a more permanent concept. This may help evolve it away from feeling like you're having cocktails in a basement with curtains on the wall.
I like the idea of a more intimate bar at this hotel. The lobby bar can become a bit loud and not calm. A hotel of this calibre should have a quieter, more intimate bar, but I don't think it needs to be a rigid, reservations only speakeasy experience.
As for what we got, the experience was incredibly overpriced. The server and host did their part at playing fanciful roles, but ultimately, it was drinks in a room with a drop ceiling and some curtains.
On top of that, every. single. drink. was too sweet. I deliberately ordered drinks that should be more spirit forward and less sweet (according to their own literal visual map), and they were still overwhelming sweet.
$50+/drink for cocktails that are mediocre in a room that feels like a basement? Not again.
Love the hotel, and I think most of the folks working there try hard, but this is a miss.

The best speakeasy experience or really any type of bar experience, we’ve ever had. Kurt is an absolute master of his craft and guided us through their menu like an absolute master. Everyone should run to this place if you’re in Orlando.

Phenomenal. Excellent mixology on display in an intimate space worth spending your time in.
The theming is integrated to exactly the level it should be. It's taken seriously enough to have informed decisions about the experience of the lounge and its drinks, but it's not forced, and any corniness is short-lived and delivered with a kind of knowing wink.
The only food—the seasoned popcorn—is nice, with a great flavor, if a bit oversalted and very slightly stale.
The drinks were hit after hit after hit for me. Gorgeous presentations through glassware, activations, and the not overlong narratives shared by the staff, all balanced in ways that served the intended profile of each individual drink (meaning they weren't all equally sweet, sour, and boozy, and the differences matched the characters and of the drinks). Huge props for making the only smoked cocktails I think I've ever had that weren't choked by the smoke.
The cocktails being as excellent as they were, I think the staff were just as lovely. They were classy while remaining personable and very friendly. I had a really great time chatting with them a bit, and it was legitimately a bit of a bummer when it was time to call it a night. That's exceptionally rare for me.
I'll be back next time I'm in town.
Best speakeasy Ive ever been to!
Excellent drinks. Jackie the bartender is an expert in her craft and guided us like a Sherman through the menu so that we had the perfect memorable experience. I have been to some of the top bars in the world and, without a doubt, the drinks and experience at Epilogue stand up to all of them and find a way to stand out.
