This is literally one of my favorite spots on disney property. I am so sad it took me this long to go. I cannot recommend this place enough! from start to finish the service and food were amazing. along with the drinks! Also book right before the fireworks because they will stop your food so you can enjoy the show on their terrace! The music is synced with the fireworks! The food was a 5 out of 5! I will always make it a point to start my disney trip correct with this location. You will not be disappointed!! If you book towards of the end of the night like we did the cast member who is helping you has a great conversation with you and gives you some extra great magic to help with the rest of your trip!

Wow. A must do experience! The food was sensational and the atmosphere when the Magic Kingdom fireworks go off was amazing. The whole restaurant goes dark as they play the firework music and everyone sits and watches in stunned silence.

Our server was Reggie. Great service. The food was really good. The tea isn't sweet. But he brought some cane sugar. And poured in the tea. I am really particular when it comes to tea. Have to say this is one of the best restaurants tea I have had.

Welcome to Applebees with a nice view! California Grill has somehow perfected the art of charging Michelin-star prices for Applebee’s-quality food with a nice view. Let’s start with the drinks. I asked if the bartender could make a cucumber gimlet. The response? “That’s not on the menu, so we can’t make it.” I’m sorry… what? It’s a full bar. That’s like telling someone you can’t make an Old Fashioned because it isn’t printed on page two of the cocktail menu. You have the ingredients. You have a bartender. Just make the drink. The first course was the artichoke flatbread. “Flatbread” is generous—it was about as dry as a communion wafer. Eight pieces came out, I ate one, and left the other seven because it was so dry. The server picked it up without asking if anything was wrong. For the entrée, I ordered the filet medium rare. It arrived cooked to the consistency of a leather belt. Credit where it’s due: the waiter noticed before I even said anything and had another steak prepared. That was the only real service recovery of the night. The potatoes tasted like frozen potato balls dumped out of a bag, and the asparagus looked impressive until you tried eating it. The stalks were about as thick as my thumb—woody, chewy, and bitter. Dessert wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t memorable either. It tasted like something mass-produced that arrived on a Sysco truck that morning. The biggest disappointment wasn’t even the food—it was the atmosphere. For what’s supposed to be one of Disney’s signature restaurants, there was absolutely zero sense of hospitality. Everyone seemed like they were just there to collect a paycheck. The only person who actually seemed to care was one of the managers. Then came the bill: nearly $800 for four adults and one child. For $800, I expected one of the best meals at Disney. Instead, I got one of the worst upscale dining experiences I’ve had anywhere. Do you know how many Oriental Chicken Salads from Applebee’s you can buy for $800? Enough to feed an army—and honestly, I’d probably enjoy them more. If you’re looking for a great dinner at Disney, skip California Grill. Go to Cake Bake Shop instead. We ate there for about half the price and got significantly better food, better cocktails, better service, and a much better atmosphere. The fireworks view is beautiful. Unfortunately, it’s doing almost all of the heavy lifting.

I took my mom to California Grill for her birthday and wanted to recognize Cast Member Sammie, who sang to her in the elevator on the way up and immediately made her feel special. The host stand team was also wonderful and did a great job acknowledging her birthday. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience didn't live up to the restaurant's reputation or price point. We had a great view until the family seated in front of us allowed their children to run around throughout dinner and stand directly in front of the windows during the fireworks, blocking the view for multiple tables. Once that happened, guests at surrounding tables began moving their chairs away from their own tables and toward the windows just to be able to see the show. I completely understand families wanting to bring children to enjoy the fireworks, but for a signature dining experience, there should be some guidelines so all guests can enjoy what they're paying for. Whether that means asking everyone to remain seated during the fireworks or providing booster seats so smaller children can see without standing at the glass, some structure would go a long way. The children continued running around, playing with a ball, and throwing it against the windows, yet no server or manager addressed it. As for the food, the sushi rolls were good but not memorable, my mom's steak was excellent, but the market fish and desserts were underwhelming. Having recently dined at Citricos, the comparison made California Grill even more disappointing, as Citricos consistently delivers exceptional food and service. Overall, the standout part of the evening was the hospitality from Sammie and the host team. For the price, I expected a much more polished dining experience and would choose Citricos, Topolino's Terrace, or Capa over California Grill in the future.
