Akershus Royal Banquet Hall is a character dining restaurant located in the Norway Pavilion at Epcot, combining a medieval castle-style setting with a Disney princess experience. The restaurant is best known for its character interactions, where guests can meet multiple princesses during the meal, making it a popular choice for families looking to add a more memorable Disney experience to their day.
The food follows a Norwegian-inspired menu with a mix of traditional dishes and familiar options. The meal is served family-style, with a variety of items brought to the table including salmon, meatballs, sides, and other Scandinavian-inspired dishes. The food is enjoyable, though the main appeal is less about having a high-end dining experience and more about being able to relax and enjoy the character interactions while having a full meal.
The princess encounters are the highlight of Akershus. Unlike waiting in individual lines around the park, the restaurant allows guests to meet several characters in one place, which can save a lot of time. The interactions also feel more personal because they happen throughout the meal rather than being rushed in a standard meet-and-greet setting. For families with younger Disney fans, this is easily the strongest part of the experience.
Service is another important part of the visit. The Cast Members play a big role in making the experience feel special, especially when helping families coordinate photos, character visits, and the overall flow of the meal. The restaurant can feel busy due to the popularity of character dining, so reservations are highly recommended.
The biggest consideration is the price. Akershus is expensive compared to a normal Epcot meal, and the value depends heavily on how much you care about meeting the princesses. If you are mainly visiting for the food, there are stronger dining options around the park, but the character experience adds something you cannot easily recreate elsewhere.
Overall, Akershus Royal Banquet Hall is worth considering for families or anyone who wants a classic Disney character dining experience. The food is solid, the setting is unique, and the princess interactions are the real reason to visit. It works best when you view it as an experience with a meal included rather than just a restaurant.

Our family had a wonderful experience at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall. The food was great, but what truly made our visit special was the incredible Cast Members who helped make our daughter’s dream day come true.
Our 4-year-old daughter, Helena, had been looking forward to meeting the princesses and riding Frozen Ever After for months. We were worried that we might not have enough time to enjoy lunch, meet all the princesses, and make it to our Lightning Lane reservation.
Our server, Markus (we believe that was his name), was incredibly kind, attentive, and understanding. He made sure everything moved smoothly and helped us enjoy our meal without feeling rushed.
We also want to thank Princess Coordinator Cole, who went above and beyond to help our family. His care and willingness to assist ensured that Helena was able to meet the princesses, enjoy this magical experience, and still make it to Frozen Ever After on time.
Thanks to Markus and Cole, what could have been a stressful situation became one of the most memorable moments of our Disney vacation. Seeing Helena’s excitement and happiness throughout the experience was priceless. We are so grateful for the kindness, professionalism, and Disney magic they brought to our day.
Thank you for making such special memories for our family!

An example of Pinnacle service. If you are thinking about a place to take the family while at EPCOT, look no further than Akershus! The food is absolutely amazing and our server went above and beyond to make our experience the best and even went out of her way to give me some great advice on places to see in her home country. I will most certainly be bringing my daughter back here because the character dinning was a huge highlight of the trip.
