My cousin and I chose to celebrate our college graduation with a reservation at 1900 Park Fare at Disney’s Grand Floridian on our last night of our Disney trip. We arrived about 20 minutes early, and I want to start by saying that the hostesses were incredibly kind and welcoming. The characters were also amazing, very interactive, engaging, and easily the highlight of our evening! The meal started off well until we tried the tikka chicken. I took a bite, immediately noticed the texture was rubbery, and spit it out. When I looked at the piece, it appeared to be raw. I then cut into the rest of the chicken on my plate, and several pieces looked the same. My cousin checked hers as well and found the same issue. We politely brought it to our server’s attention, and he was incredibly apologetic.
Unfortunately, that’s where the experience went downhill. The chef insisted the chicken was fully cooked, and when the manager came to our table, he repeatedly tried to convince us that it was fully cooked and safe to eat. We were so confused by how adamant they were that my cousin actually pulled out her phone and searched, “Is cooked chicken pink on the inside?” Looking back, we can laugh about that moment, but at the time it was frustrating because we felt like we were being gaslit instead of having our concerns taken seriously. The only solution offered was another serving of the same chicken, like yes please serve us the same raw chicken we’re complaining about. After declining the ridiculous offer the manager left. By then our appetites were completely gone and we just asked for the check, we didn’t get to fully indulge in the buffet so we ended up leaving hungry kind of bizarre for a $150 tab. We simply wanted our food safety concerns acknowledged and handled appropriately and they weren’t. A sincere apology and a meaningful effort to make things right would have gone a long way.
This was supposed to be a special graduation celebration, and while the hostesses, our server, and the characters were all fantastic, the way management handled the situation overshadowed the entire experience. Sadly, based on this experience, I would not recommend this restaurant.
