Since 1950, Whataburger has proudly served a bigger, better burger. It all started when a young entrepreneur named Harmon Dobson had a bold idea: to serve a burger so big that it took two hands to hold, and so good that after a single bite customers couldn't help but exclaim, “What a burger!” He named his humble burger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas, “Whataburger.” Over six decades later, we're still family owned and operated. Each and every Whataburger® is still made to order. We still use 100% pure beef and serve it on a big, toasted five-inch bun. And now, as we proudly serve burgers, chicken, salads and breakfast at more than 800 Whataburger locations across the country, that first burger stand is still close to our hearts.

We love it so much, that we come here every day while we are visiting the area … and they never disappoint! Their breakfast starts at 11pm and goes until 11am, and it is always so full of southern love! Special shout out to the breakfast staff!

- BBBKJun 19, 20263.0The "premium" chicken sandwich isn't very premium. The menue pictures shows a thick chicken cut hanging off the bun all the way around. Whay I got...some small little piece that is way smaller than the bun. I get the whole advertisement looks better and all that, but this is a joke. The employees I encountered while there were very nice and professional. But the chicken sandwich...come on man. Ain't nobody wanting to pay those prices and not get whats advertised.

In high-school in the early 70's there were 3 great fast food Hamburger joints in the Southwest. Whataburger, Scotty's & Burger Chef. McDonald's wasn't anywhere near as good as either of the two! Ray Kroc's betrayal of the McDonald brothers PLUS Kroc's refusal to pay them what was originally contracted was still fresh in everyone's memories. Hardee's burgers absorbed Burger Chef but stayed with their own burgers even though at that time they weren't as big or popular as Burger Chef was. Scotty's made a crucial marketing mistake at a time that made it impossible to comeback from. Sooo... That GIANT Whataburger Hamburger with its unique extra large patty (or patties) and bun and it's standard Whataburger ingredients still out classes any other fast food Hamburger chain.
