My family and I decided to stop in yesterday for lunch after a long day at the beach. When we arrived there was no one ahead of us and roughly 4-6 tables open from the lobby area. After telling the hostess, who we later found out was the manager, that we preferred to sit inside she let us know it would be about 15 minutes. Cool. After 25 mins we went back up to the hostess and said look we are starving just put us outside, she says oh no I can sit you inside now. She takes us to a table that had been open since we arrived. We ordered apps, drinks and shortly after food. Drinks sat at the bar for long enough for another waitress to bring them to us because ours was too busy running outside with the kitchen staff every 2 seconds. App came out lackluster and room temp about an hour after being seated. Restaurant is practically empty at this point. Food finally arrives 2 hours after arriving. My daughter, who is allergic to peanut and tree nuts orders macaroni and grapes, safe foods. 2 bites into her meal her throat begins to close. The waitress and manager cannot tell us what oil they use or food what allergens they have any any of the food we are now questioning. She proceeds to say welp it must be another allergy you don’t know about because no nuts here. At this point I have left the table and are rushing to the ER. Our waitress never returns from my understanding other than to get paid. The cherry on top is they were so gracious to remove the meal they almost killed my daughter with from our bill. Upper management needs to do a hell of a lot better with their staff, cooks, food handling, and cross contamination before they get someone seriously sick or worse. I’ll be waiting to hear back from them after they allegedly filed a report of the incident.

This was a hit and miss experience. We were seated and sat for 15 minutes before Darian saw us and stopped. He was very personable and apologized for the long wait and took our drink order. The strawberry lemonade tasted like pink water with a bit of acidic kick. My husband and I both got the seafood feast. The shrimp was amazing, the fish was and upgraded version of Long John Silver/Captain D's, and the seafood hush puppies were filled with corn but had no flavor. The broccoli was mushy and unseasoned and when I tried to put salt on it, discovered that old salt was in the shaker with rust. My husband ordered gumbo and said it was good. We had ceviche and calamari for appetizers and they were absolutely delicious!! Darian was a great server and his efforts made our time there pleasant and enjoyable. I absolutely do not blame him for the food. I would come back to try it again, but I absolutely would not order the entreés again.
Was excited to try this restaurant. We come to this area often and this is the one place we had not tried. But was not impressed to be honest. The calamari was over cooked and wasn’t seasoned. My son had to have sauce with it and he hates sauce. We got queso and chips mostly for the younger kiddos who didn’t want anything else and I thought it would be enough for them it was such a small portion. My husband’s shrimp scampi pasta was a bit over cooked but he liked it over all. Then I got the shrimp New Orleans and it was not good to me. The shrimp was bland and overcooked. Lacked any taste at all. I was expecting more than what I got as fast as a spoon fall of rice and overcooked and bland shrimp for $24. I would not eat here again.

We went in and sat at a booth, we then moved to tables because where we were sitting it was hot and another customer told us to move to a table to feel more comfortable. That customer also told us her and her family had to move from that spot too. We had also noticed our old waitress was sweating as well. We let them know that we wanted to move and it seemed like it wasn’t appreciated, even though there wasn’t many tables full. When we got our food, one of our orders was completely burnt so we had to send it back, tenders tasted like batter, corn was flakey, shrimp was runny on some and no seasoning. When we were waiting on our checks, we flipped the sign to red “stop forest stop” and made complete eye contact with our server, Clay, and he went the other direction. When we got the bills we made sure to tell him that we were paying 2x2 and when he left to check us out there were 3 servers giggling and I guess that distracted him because he had our payments for completely different orders. My boyfriend and I paid for the other food while they paid for ours. We told someone who walked by, and he fixed it. And you have to pay for parking? For this? I miss Joes Crab Shack and wanted to show my boyfriend’s brother, and his girlfriend thinking it would be better, never coming back. I don’t want a survey if you do reply.
My family and I wanted to celebrate Father's Day somewhere new, but would give us the vibe of past experiences. We had a tradition of enjoying crab pot boils for Father's Day every year at the former establishment on this location Joe's Crab Shack. We visited the Jax Bch Bubba Gump the Saturday before this past Father's Day. We had been to the Orlando location a few years back and are familiar with what to expect. Sadly, our recent experience left much to be desired. Having grown up in Jacksonville, I am familiar with local fresh seafood, as well as the benefits of tourism and good customer service.
The following details are why we will not be returning to this location:
1) Our server was pleasant but overall inattentive. Fun Fact: I mentioned to him that my first name is Forrest, and showed him my ID. He said "oh wow" and moved on. Call me wrong but I thought ...you know ... Forrest Gump? The brand? Oh well, I know it's just my name, but maybe I expected some joy on the occasion.
2) The cocktails were standard fare but overpriced.
3) All the dishes we ordered were lack luster and did not give clues to being prepared with fresh ingredients. The shrimp cocktail had no ice in the glass base, and was dry/rubbery. The jambalaya was served overcooked and mushy. The crab pot boil had small portions, was over cooked and there were no discernable individual flavors present.
4) The atmosphere was friendly, clean and there were a decent amount of GUMP things hanging about. However, the decoration alone did not support or add to our experience.
5) The parking app/signage and hostess stand QR code were all vague and disorganized. Perhaps try "Parking free with validation from restaurant" Then print or give QR code on receipt. This concept is used by many establishments in the area with no confusion.
In summary, sadly our entire experience was greatly below our average expectations. We did not feel the need to complain to the staff. It's either good or not. We paid our bill, tipped well and quietly left with a new experience, a story to share and enjoyed frozen custard on our way home.
