I already contacted corporate to file a formal complaint about this experience. Today, I also contacted the restaurant directly to report the food-quality issue and request a full refund.
There were a significant amount of foreign particles in my Mexican Pizza. It was very concerning and honestly disgusting. There was so much of it that we ended up throwing away the entire meal. I have pictures of the food and the debit card information from the purchase, but unfortunately, I did not have the receipt.
When I called the restaurant, I spoke with the assistant manager, Xiomara. I explained what happened and that I was requesting a refund. Instead of trying to help resolve the issue, she became very confrontational and repeatedly asked for a receipt. I explained that I did not have one, but that I could provide the debit card information and pictures of the food. She continued interrupting me and would not allow me to fully explain the situation, so I asked to speak with the general manager.
While I was on the phone, I could hear Xiomara speaking with the person she identified as the GM in Spanish. I understand Spanish, so I could clearly hear the conversation. It appeared that she was telling the GM to focus on whether or not I had a receipt rather than actually addressing my complaint.
The person who then got on the phone identified herself as the general manager. I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt and explain the situation, but when I asked for her name and position, she was unable to understand my questions in English. I tried again to clarify, but we were unable to communicate effectively. At that point, I ended the call and contacted corporate directly.
What makes this situation especially disappointing is that my daughter and I live in North Miami, and we specifically drive to this Taco Bell because we have always had good experiences there. The food has consistently been good, and the gentlemen who normally work the night shift have always been courteous, respectful, and professional. I have never had an issue with the food or customer service at this location before.
I understand that mistakes happen, including issues with food. What I expect, however, is for management to handle customer complaints professionally and respectfully. Unfortunately, that was not my experience today.
Managers should set the standard for customer service and professionalism. In this case, I felt that the way my complaint was handled was dismissive, confrontational, and unnecessarily difficult.
After this experience, I will not be returning to this location. I sincerely hope corporate takes my complaint seriously and addresses both the food-quality issue and the way this situation was handled by management. This location has had good employees who have provided great service in the past, and it is unfortunate that one experience with management has completely changed my view of the restaurant.
They can and should do better.
