I have been a Pizza Hut customer for years, and I am done. Completely, permanently done.
Let's start with the delivery fee. Pizza Hut charges customers a delivery fee, yet the drivers are still using their own personal cars, burning their own gas, and putting wear and tear on their own vehicles. So where exactly is that fee going? It certainly isn't buying anyone a company car. It's pure profit dressed up as a "cost," and customers are expected to swallow it without question.
Fine, I thought. I'll just pick up my order myself and skip the nonsense. Wrong. Now there's a mandatory "Team Member Fee" tacked onto carryout orders. Let that sink in. I drive to the store, I walk inside, I pick up my own food, and I am forced to pay what amounts to a mandatory tip for hourly employees who are already on the payroll. Nobody brought anything to my table. Nobody drove anything to my house. I did all the work, and I still get charged for the privilege.
This is outrageous. Paying your employees is YOUR job, Pizza Hut, not mine. If you think your team deserves more, and they probably do, then pay them a living wage out of your own pocket instead of sneaking another line item onto my receipt and calling it something warm and fuzzy. Hiding labor costs behind "fees" is a cheap, insulting ploy, and customers can see right through it.
This stunt has ensured I will NEVER spend another dollar at Pizza Hut. I have unsubscribed from every mailing list, closed my account, and deleted the app from my phone. There are plenty of pizza places that manage to run a business without nickel-and-diming the people who keep them open.
Ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous. Save your money and take it somewhere that respects you.
