Costanera was recommended to me by aunt since I recently moved back to area. I stopped in for lunch with my mom and son. The food was delicious. Especially the dessert! I am a diehard lucuma lover and the crocante de lucuma mouse was amazing. Can’t wait to come again next month for their Festival de Bolero event. Super friendly and great service! The restaurant has a changing table in the bathroom, which is a big plus if you have little ones. 10/10.

Incredible food and warm atmosphere. I brought my Peruvian boyfriend to Costanera for his birthday. He said the food tastes like home. We ordered the ceviche de pescado, tallarin verde beef and cilantro rice pollo. This was my first venture in Peruvian food. I have to say… the bar has been set high! ¡Delicioso!

Authentic Peruvian food. Everything we ordered was so good! We had lomo Saltado, chicha morada, and 2 desserts. (Will update the name because I forgot.) The service was great too.

Service was absolutely terrible. It took our waitress approximately 13 minutes just to greet our table and hand us menus, followed by another 15 minutes before she returned to take our drink order. At that point, we asked to place our food order as well. One alcoholic drink arrived about 10 minutes later. Mine never arrived—and we were there for approximately 1.5 hours. After waiting about an hour and twenty minutes for our food, our server finally told us the kitchen was backed up because of a larger party and that it would be another 10–15 minutes. Meanwhile, she spent much of the time behind the bar with the Clover tablet in her hand rather than checking on the four tables she was serving. What made the experience even more frustrating was watching another couple sit down and immediately receive iced water. They ordered a dirty martini with three olives, which arrived within approximately five minutes. Our table was never properly checked on. Our water was served without ice, which was never addressed, and we received virtually no updates other than being told the kitchen was “working on it.” After approximately 1.5 hours, our party decided to leave and asked to pay for the one alcoholic beverage we actually received. The waitress appeared shocked that we were leaving and called over a manager. The manager then told us our food would be out in another 5–10 minutes—despite the waitress having already told us roughly 10 minutes earlier that it would be another 10–15 minutes. At that point, we had waited long enough. Between the lack of attention, extremely slow service, missing drink, inconsistent updates, and watching customers who arrived well after us receive immediate service, this was an incredibly disappointing experience. We will not be returning. I’ll stick with El Puerto in Ybor.

Main takeaway: FOOD POISONING, low quality food, and sub par service. We went on a Saturday night for my dad’s birthday and the live music. First, our reserved table was right next to the speaker so we asked if we could move to one of the other open tables. They turned out to be reserved… instead of just switching the table locations, they had to bring the manager and ended up moving us to a table in the back with fold up metal chairs… fine. Wine was limited, they didn’t even carry Sauvignon blanc. Again… not a huge deal. After that, we asked what kind of fish is used for the ceviche. The chef told the truth and let us know it was Swai… this is one of the cheapest white fish you can get by the pound. They are farmed in Japan in pretty disgusting conditions. At this point, our expectations weren’t that high anymore. But it gets worse…. Our server basically abandoned our table.. we ended up stacking up all of our plates and moving them to the side ourselves. BUT what we came for was the live music which was said to begin at 8. It’s did not start until 9:45… at which point we were pretty much over the place. BUT WAIT IT GETS WORSE… can you believe it? My boyfriend the next morning had terrible food poisoning. Throwing up, couldn’t leave the toilet for hours. Fever and chills… the whole nine yards. I usually do not leave reviews even if I don’t like a place… we all have our opinions. But steer clear of this place. The food poisoning was the only reason I came here to leave a review. We will never return.
