Since 1950, Whataburger has proudly served a bigger, better burger. It all started when a young entrepreneur named Harmon Dobson had a bold idea: to serve a burger so big that it took two hands to hold, and so good that after a single bite customers couldn't help but exclaim, “What a burger!” He named his humble burger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas, “Whataburger.” Over six decades later, we're still family owned and operated. Each and every Whataburger® is still made to order. We still use 100% pure beef and serve it on a big, toasted five-inch bun. And now, as we proudly serve burgers, chicken, salads and breakfast at more than 800 Whataburger locations across the country, that first burger stand is still close to our hearts.

My wife and I walk into Whataburger and we were first in line and the employees were having an issue with the cash register and the manager never came to help them. Nobody greeted us for the entire time we were there. The person operating the cash register was flirting with someone who already ordered and when he left she stepped aside and put her head down. At one point there were six people standing behind the cash registers and they didn’t know their sign on. The guy walked back up to the counter and the employee continued to flirt with him and not one time did anyone say anything to us. We left and will never come back again and we never even tried the food. -5 stars

Went today with the family. Food was hot, fresh and service was great. The burger meat was good and soft to chew, fresh ingredients. I had a double waterburger with cheese. Is a huge burger 😳🤯 so ask for Jr if you dont have the big appetite. The burger is like a whopper in size but way better in freshness. Th fries are like McDonalds in thinness we liked them. Onion rings are the real deal and fresh, nothing to compare them, but if I had too they are way better than any fast food. Wife had chicken sandwich with my son both love them. Son had patty melt also enjoyed it. Apple pie were very hot we bought 5 😂 anyhow all great. Thank You all for the service it was 20 minute line was not bad at all today 9/27/2026

I went once just to say I tried it and boy am I glad I went when it was dead cause I would’ve been pissed if I waited 30+ minutes for this. Nothing was intrinsically wrong, infact when I asked abt the size of my fry she said there wasn’t enough in there and gave me another one. The food just wasn’t anything to rave abt. I heard it described as “Texas McDonald’s” and that’s purely because the fries are very similar and they’re open late, other than that I beg to disagree. As far as the burgers go it’s kinda bottom of the barrel, not cause jt tastes bad but because every other fast food place does it better- McDonald’s, steak&shake, burger king, even a wendys double stack that you can get in a 5 dollar biggie bag tasted better with a more memorable and distinct taste. I just pass it and think- what’s the appeal?

An unfortunate experience overall and probably won’t go back. I walked in and ordered at 7:52pm, got my food at 8:38pm. So that was enough for me to not want to do that again. Spoke with five employees over the course of 45 minutes to get any idea as to if my order was going to become a reality. I asked if one employee could check on my order and she walked away and never came back. I asked another employee and she said she would check and then didn’t come back. I asked her if there was an update ten minutes later and she said “oh i need your receipt” and took it and lost it. Then I went to the bathroom and came back and an employee took my number that was to show I was waiting on my order. I saw it in his hand and he was friendly and gave it back but it made me lose my table. I told him I had been waiting over 30 minutes for my order and he said “I’m sorry— I hate this place”. Only on the fifth person I spoke with (asked for a manager) did anyone work it out. He (Geo) was kind and acted fast and refunded my money and got me the order. He’s doing a great job. Can’t say the same for the rest of the crew. I was exhausted and tired of waiting and fighting just to get someone to give a crap. I ate my food. It was fine. Won’t be back for a long time and can’t recommend this location.

There is nothing quite like the neon orange glow of a Whataburger in the early hours of the morning to stir up a deep sense of nostalgia. Having spent years living in Texas, Whataburger wasn’t just fast food, it was a way of life, a sacred staple. It immediately brought back memories of sailing into Corpus Christi, dropping anchor, and strolling from the marina right over to the original Whataburger location. When I heard Fort Myers was finally getting its own spot, I knew I had to make the early-morning pilgrimage. I arrived right around 5:15 a.m., beating the inevitable drive-thru line for weeks after a new location opens, and walked straight up to the counter. The brand new place was squeaky clean, spacious, and beautifully appointed with about 20 to 25 tables and booths. The decor pays homage to the brand’s roots while celebrating its new home, complete with a massive Whataburger logo on one wall and a custom "Fort Myers, Florida" mural on another. After ordering, I settled into the dining area, which features a great setup to refill drinks and grab your favorite condiments. One of my favorite signatures of Whataburger remains a practice. When you sit down with your plastic number placard or stand waiting to take it to go, the staff personally brings your meal right to you with a tray loaded with all the essentials you may need. Things like regular ketchup, spicy ketchup, and mustard included. I like that they bring it to you and you select what you want or need. The food was absolutely delicious and hit every nostalgic note. I ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast taquito to enjoy right there, it’s a warm, soft flour tortilla packed with eggs, bacon and melted cheese, along with a warm, flaky buttered biscuit paired with strawberry jelly. I also picked up a sausage, egg, and cheese taquito and two Justaburgers to go for my wife. While the standard burgers here are delightfully massive, the Justaburger is her absolute favorite. It is a thin patty loaded with mustard and pickles (she skips the onions). She's going to wake up to a very sweet morning surprise. Since this location just opened about a week and a half ago, the crew is still getting their footing with the ordering systems, and finding menu items took the cashier a brief extra moment. But speed comes with time and practice for a new operation, and their genuine friendliness, attentiveness, and spotless dining room more than made up for it. It is fantastic to have a taste of Texas right here in Fort Myers.
