If certain menu items aren’t available during the last hour or the kitchen begins shutting down early, that’s completely understandable, just communicate that politely. I would totally understand if they had said “cold sandwiches only”. The issue was being made to feel like I was inconveniencing the staff simply by ordering during normal business hours. Unfortunately, that experience overshadowed what should have been a quick, pleasant visit. I left without trying anything. Tip: you may benefit from posting this “unwritten” rule more publicly or having a sign stating “kitchen closes at 7, restaurant closes at 8” or “order ahead only”.
