Went to Louie Bossi's for my daughter's Birthday and was pleasantly surprised. Im pretty critical of Italian food because its my niche at home. Dont get me wrong! Everything was very very good. Its just not as good as my own. But thats almost every Italian restaurant. I had the Carbonara and I ca definitely recommend it.

It is unfortunate what this place has become over the years; however, given that Fort Lauderdale is changing for the better, I suppose some establishments simply fail to measure up to the new standards and will eventually fade away. Such is the case with Louie Bossi, and we have seen the decay in front of us. Last night, after attending an event, I decided to stop by with a friend for a late-night bite; three different staff members were extremely rude and dismissive. When it came time to speak with the manager, he, too, behaved in an offensively rude and disrespectful manner regarding our complaint, siding with his team instead of listening to the facts. I understand that the arrival of late-night customers—shortly before the staff finishes their shift—can be annoying to some; a simple "we're closing soon" would have sufficed, even though there were still 45 minutes until closing time and the bar was packed with people. But instead, they chose to lash out at their own customers. Establishments like this have no place in the neighborhood—especially when, just one block away, there is another late-night restaurant offering a superior menu, service, and atmosphere. Ultimately, it is we who decide where we spend our money, and Loui Bossi is no longer that place for us.

I liked it so much the first night, I came back for lunch the next day. That says everything — and the honest review lives in both visits.
Louie Bossi’s on Las Olas is exactly the kind of Italian restaurant that earns its reputation through the food and loses a half star through inconsistency in service. I visited twice in less than 24 hours — Friday dinner and Saturday lunch — both times without a reservation, both times solo at the bar. Fair warning upfront: book a reservation if you can. I knew the risk going in and own that entirely.
Friday Night — Dinner
I was seated at the inside bar near the service window, which also happened to be adjacent to the bus station where dishes and silverware were being cleared and disposed of throughout the night. It was louder than the ambient restaurant noise you’d want for a solo dinner. Again — a reservation would have solved this — but it’s worth noting that a table placement like that is a mild disservice to the overall atmosphere the restaurant works hard to create.
That said, everything else Friday night was excellent. I ordered the Limoncello Spritz, which is exactly what it advertises — bold, citrusy, and lively. In hindsight it wasn’t the ideal pairing for Cacio e Pepe, but as a standalone cocktail it was genuinely well-made. The Cacio e Pepe, however, was the real story. House-made noodles, perfect texture, flawless seasoning — rich without being heavy, simple without being boring. It was a 10 out of 10 pasta. My server Friday night was outstanding — attentive, warm, and checked in on me multiple times without prompting even as a solo diner. That kind of awareness is what elevates a good meal into a memorable one.
Saturday Afternoon — Lunch
The Cacio e Pepe pulled me back the very next day, and it delivered again. Twice in a row, same dish, same result — that’s a kitchen you can trust.
The service, however, was a different story. I ordered an Amaretto Sour to start. It never came. My pasta arrived first, and only then did the bartender realize she had never made the drink. At that point I didn’t really want it, but I drank it anyway. When I was nearly finished with my meal, I ordered an Amaretto on the rocks and asked to close my tab — and again, the wait was significant. Guests who sat down after I requested the cocktail and bill had their drinks ordered and made first. By the time mine finally arrived, I was past the point of enjoying it and simply wanted pay the bill for throat a first cocktail and head out. A stark contrast to the Friday experience, and genuinely disappointing at a restaurant operating at this level on one of South Florida’s most prominent dining corridors. The Bottom Line
Louie Bossi’s is a must-visit on Las Olas — the food is the real deal, the atmosphere has character and charm, and when the service is on, it’s really on. But the bar experience at lunch exposed an inconsistency that’s hard to ignore. The kitchen earns a 5 every time. The service earns a 5 one night and a 2 the next. Averaged out with everything else, this is a strong 4-star restaurant that has the ingredients to be a perfect 5 on the right night.
Make a reservation, sit in the piazza if you can, and order the Cacio e Pepe without question. You’ll be back.

I have been to Louie Bossi's multiple times before in both Boca and Lauderdale and the food was good but has gotten less so with each subsequent visit and this visit was worst of all.
First, the water tasted terrible, so I ordered a club soda instead ($5) and it was just as bad, chemical, metal taste, horrid.
I ordered a shrimp scampi app ($20) and it was disgusting, the shrimp was flavorless and had a weird texture, my lunch was a chicken parm panini ($17), dry, burnt and, again, pretty strange tasting, the chips were okay. The food tasted like it was old and well past it's prime.
My cousin had a chicken Caesar ($22.50), the salad was okay but the chicken was overcooked and very dry, she finished about half of it.
I should have complained but I didn't, shame on me.
The service was okay, I tipped the waitress 20% and that's the very last time Louie Bossi's, in Boca or Lauderdale, will ever see me. The last time I visited the Boca location was subpar also especially considering the prices.
I’ve always enjoyed the food at Louie Bossi, but my recent visit left me feeling more like a target for upselling than a valued guest. Despite having a reservation, we weren’t seated for 15 minutes. We were initially placed at the front outdoor couches, which are impossible to eat a full meal at without extremely hunching over.
After moving to the back patio, we were met with a persistent smell reminiscent of a sweaty locker room—likely due to the rain, but unpleasant nonetheless. The service was slow throughout the night, with drinks taking 10-15 minutes to arrive each round. I was also disappointed by the lack of transparency; I was offered chicken with my Cacio e Pepe ($23) without a price mention, only to find a $9 charge for a very small portion—a nearly 40% markup. To top it off, the digital tip prompt calculated the 20% gratuity based on the full price of our half-off drinks, meaning we unknowingly tipped 25% on our actual subtotal. It felt like a series of "gotchas" that ruined the evening. I love the food, but this felt like a scam.
