I’ve lived in South Florida for over 30 years, and La Bamba has consistently been one of the best Mexican and Spanish restaurants in the area. Their chips and salsa are the best — nothing else really compares.
The Cordova Road location specifically always provides great service, and that starts with the management. Eduardo does a great job making sure guests feel welcomed and taken care of. The service is always prompt and friendly, and the food is consistently delicious.
They also have a great variety on the menu, so there’s always plenty to choose from, and you really can’t go wrong with anything. Definitely one of my go-to spots in South Florida.

We have eaten at La Bamba many times and normally have had good food and great service, especially during lunch with our usual waitress. Unfortunately, our last two experiences were so disappointing that we will never return to this restaurant.
A few nights ago, we went for dinner around 7:30 and the restaurant was practically empty. Almost everything about our order was wrong. My husband specifically requested no onions because they cause him severe heartburn and he has a food sensitivity to them, yet his steak and beans came covered in onions. Our toddler’s rice, beans, and avocado were completely forgotten, and my crab nachos were overcooked with hard, dried-out cheese.
The waiter did have my husband’s food remade, which we appreciated. However, when I asked about our toddler’s missing rice and beans, he argued with my husband and insisted they were already on the table. The beans he was pointing to were actually the beans that came with my husband’s meal.
Despite that experience, we decided to give the restaurant another chance and returned last night. Unfortunately, the way we were treated was far worse than the bad meal.
We were a party of three — my husband, our toddler, and me — and requested one of the available booths. The older hostess with gray hair would not seat us there. I asked her three separate times why we couldn’t sit in the booth, and she ignored me and never gave us an explanation.
Then, while we were still standing there waiting, she took the party directly behind us — also a party of three — and seated them in the exact booth we had just requested.
My husband repeatedly said, “We were here first. Why are you seating the people behind us?” Neither hostess would answer him. They simply stared at us without responding. It was an incredibly uncomfortable and disrespectful interaction.
This particular hostess has been pleasant when I’ve come in with only my husband or my mother, but when I come in with my toddler, her demeanor toward me has repeatedly been noticeably different. She has rolled her eyes, been dismissive, and made us feel unwelcome.
We then asked three times to speak with a manager. When the dark-haired manager finally came out, rather than asking what had happened or listening to our concern, he approached us with an extremely rude attitude and loudly said, “Do you want a seat?”
I responded, “No, I would like you to hear my concern,” because at that point this wasn’t about simply getting a table. We wanted him to understand how his customers had just been treated.
Instead, his attitude and facial expression were hostile and dismissive, and he showed absolutely no interest in hearing what had happened. At that point, we left.
We will never return to this restaurant because of the attitudes and disrespect shown by these two employees — the older hostess with gray hair and the dark-haired manager.
We were regular customers and had enjoyed this restaurant many times. We were even willing to overlook a terrible meal and give them another chance. What we are not willing to overlook is being ignored and treated disrespectfully, watching customers who arrived after us and had the exact same party size be given the booth we requested, and then having a manager treat us with even more disrespect when we tried to address it.
Losing longtime customers over something that could have been resolved with a simple explanation, basic courtesy, and an apology is incredibly disappointing.

If I could give this poor establishment a zero out of 5 I would. The service is absolute cheeks and they speak little English and cannot get an order right. The queso they advertise is cheap nacho cheese that is worse than Taco Bell. The salsa is bad. The chips were stale. I left a zero dollar tip and felt scammed. Tourist trap stay far away!
