- TSTamara Smith3 days ago1.0I just want to take a moment to recognize the young man who took my order at Dunkin’ this morning( order# 5841 @8am). He was extremely polite, respectful, and seemed like a genuinely good young man. I’m assuming he is new, and while taking my order, he made an honest mistake and rang me up for a medium instead of a large. No big deal at all mistakes happen. What bothered me was how the correction was handled by, what I’m assuming, was the manager. She reprimanded him in front of customers in a way that I found to be extremely degrading and unnecessary. I strongly believe that if an employee makes a mistake, especially an honest one, you can correct them without making them feel “less than” or incapable of doing their job. The appropriate thing would have been to quietly pull him aside and address the issue privately. Instead, he was embarrassed in front of customers and peers. I understand that every manager has their own personality and management style, but as someone who was previously a successful restaurant manager overseeing multiple locations in NYC, I can honestly say that this was poor management behavior. These are the kinds of interactions that can contribute to high employee turnover and create a hostile or uncomfortable work environment. If someone is comfortable speaking to an employee that way in front of customers,literally gaslighting the employee. I can only imagine what those interactions may look like behind closed doors. This was actually my first time visiting this location, and unfortunately, it will be my last. I know I’m only one customer and my decision may not make a difference, but I believe in speaking up when I see someone being treated unfairly. And to the young man who took my order: Please don’t let this experience make you doubt yourself. You are awesome, you are capable, and you were doing your best. Everyone makes mistakes. Persons who have attained many titles sometimes forget where they also started from. Keep your head up and keep pushing. You’ve got this! Sometimes a manager’s correction can teach an employee. Other times, the way they choose to correct someone can break their confidence. There is always a way to hold someone accountable while still treating them with dignity and respect.

After running errands all day, I stopped in to grab an ice drink, and I opted for one of their new drinks from the King Kyle collection, I had the coconut sun cloud , and it was delicious. It was refreshing for sure, and if you love coconut as much as I do, this hits the spot. The staff was not rude to customers at all, however the manager had no issues yelling at the other employees while customers were in the dining area waiting. I mean, she could have waited till the customers were all gone, to speak with the employee about the issues, but instead she decided to yell and take smack to him while we were there waiting for your drinks. We got our order and left, she wished us happy day, and went back to yelling at him. It was so strange.
