  It was not very good at all unfortunately. We have been many times to Portillos in Chicago and this restaurant really disappointed us. Fries were not fresh and the hot dogs have a hard casing and were kind of bland. I ordered a chili dog and a chicago dog and received 2 chicago dogs and had to return to the counter to exchange it. My husband got the Italian beef dipped and nothing was added, and he said it was tasteless. Its a real shame because when we go to Chicago this is our fave. We downloaded the app for free fries and it didnt show up until after we paid, even tho the advertising in the window said redeem this visit. So very disappointing.

  You can’t go wrong with Portillos I am a loyal fan of the brand since my days in Chicago. The Chicago hot dogs are a must try. And all Their cakes shakes, specially the chocolate cake one.

  Friendly place to go back in time and experience good vibes. If you're too full after eating a meal, get a grab and go slice or s whole chocolate cake, because it's too good of a dessert to miss. The beef Chicago sandwich has plenty of tasty meat, but I expected to have sweet peppers added since I was asked if I wanted sweet or hot peppers. However, not a single, tiny bit was there.

  Absolutely a TRAIN WRECK in the drive thru tonight. After the 4th bag of food handed to me I got my correct food order. The girl working drive thru was completely unable to function. In the 20 minutes spent idling at pickup window multiple people inside were also returning incorrect food they’d been given and cars were also returning from before I got there who’d also been given incorrect orders and this girl running drive thru told them to circle back around to the long line of cars as a solution. 👀 The manager who came way late in the game was unapologetic, unfriendly and unprofessional. Mistakes happen. I get that. But there’s a way to treat customers to rectify it. This girl working the pickup window moved slower than molasses and could not handle her responsibilities and didn’t have any idea how to rectify all the mistakes she had made continuing to pile up which was exacerbated by the absence of a manager or support as the chaos built until it was far too late. I don’t expect McDonald’s level service from Portillos staff and managers. Unfortunately that’s what we all got tonight. Without common courtesy, apology, or professionalism by anyone. I hope the owner and corporate office rectify this mismanagement and incompetence here. It’s a complete disaster what happened tonight. They are missing the mark here by a long shot and this needs to be addressed quickly. I don’t plan on returning any time soon or recommending it after this experience. A decent manager would come faster than 20 minutes after not a single car moves in the drive thru that long and constant flow of wrong orders being returned inside and outside in that time frame. And without exception an apology would be in order to each of these customers who received subpar service requiring order returns extensive waits and food remakes. Period. This is basic customer service 101. I don’t know if the girl at the window didn’t know how to do her job or just didn’t care. Or overwhelmed and unsupported by her manager- regardless of which one it was she was left floundering for 20 minutes straight (at that point that falls on the MANAGER) and if she would have moved any slower she would have been going backwards, she was really SLOTHIN! Hard 🦥 The biggest thing missing (besides all the correct food in my first 3 bags for my order ) is the lack of apology, common courtesy and friendliness by the employee who messed everything up as well as the manager after such a bad experience. That would have gone a lonnnnnnng way. And would have made up for such a terrible experience with the service all around.

  This was our first visit to Portillo's. The gal that greeted us on 4/16 around 1pm was very cordial and efficient. We placed our order with her, with ease. The single burgers and chicken sandwich were big. Crinkle cut fries were delicious and hot. We saw a video that said we Had to get the chocolate cake, so we got 1 generous slice; our son opted for the chocolate eclair cake. Not a crumb was left on either. I still had a sweet tooth so hubby brought us a strawberry shortcake. Omh- BOMB!!!!! The best I've ever had!!! The 3 of us devoured that too. We eat low carb most of the time but all agreed when we have a cheat day next time we are returning for great food, atmosphere and cool music. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
