We had both breakfast and lunch at Via Sophia during our stay at Hamilton Hotel and really enjoyed the experience. The atmosphere was beautiful, cozy, and welcoming. The food was fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented at every meal. Breakfast was excellent, and lunch was just as enjoyable with great flavors and quality ingredients. The staff was friendly, attentive, and provided excellent service. A wonderful restaurant with a lovely atmosphere — we would definitely come back and highly recommend it!
Via Sophia is a sophisticated restaurant and bar located inside, and connected to, the Hamilton Hotel. Every detail in the space feels intentional. The marble counters, the glassware, and one very important detail for me… the bathrooms were clean!
I visited for drinks before an event taking place at the hotel. The bartender was so kind while taking my very random gin martini order: bruised, dirty, and with olives. Yes, I know… I did that to a gin martini lol. He looked at me sideways for a second and then said, “I got you lol.” We also ordered a regular margarita. Both drinks were tasty and exactly what I was looking for.
I would definitely recommend this spot for business meetings, date nights, or cocktails with friends. The atmosphere feels elevated without being stuffy, which I really appreciated.
As for parking? Don’t get it twisted, it’s still DC and the parking is still trash lol. Factor in extra time when meeting up with people.

We had a wonderful experience for dinner! De-Shawn was an exceptional waiter. He made sure we knew lambrusco was bubbly before ordering it and warned us about the size of one of the dishes so we wouldn't be disappointed. He definitely looked out for us! And when they were unfortunately out of lambrusco, he worked with the bartender to make a replacement drink, which was very delicious!
They surprised us with cheesecake for my birthday - and it is THE BEST cheesecake I've ever had. It's huge, so definitely share it.
Very happy with this entire dinner & experience!

I had a great experience at Via Sofia. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the food truly stood out—authentic Italian flavors with fresh ingredients and perfectly prepared dishes. You can tell they put a lot of care into both the menu and the overall dining experience.
I also want to highlight Dominique, who was extremely helpful throughout our visit. She was attentive, friendly, and made sure everything came out just right. Her recommendations were spot on and really enhanced our meal.
Overall, I’d definitely recommend Via Sofia if you’re looking for a quality Italian restaurant with excellent service. I’ll be coming back for sure.
Only go to this restaurant if you have no other options.
The service is bad, the kitchen is slow and it’s expensive. We arrived at 3:45 at that time of day on Saturday they only had pizza on the menu. So we ordered immediately; 3 Pizzas, asked for 1 with no tomato sauce and the other with no pesto.
Issue #1:
3 pizzas and 5 glasses of water cost $80 before tip.
Issue #2
Those 3 pizzas took 48 minutes to arrive.
Issue #3
The pizza we asked to not have tomato sauce came with tomato sauce. When we showed the server they blamed it on the kitchen and said that he didn’t see it. We were so hungry that we just ate it.
Issue #4
We asked for the check and they took so long that I went to the register to pay, the server didn’t see that as an issue and said the restaurant was busy, it really wasn’t.
The only saving grace is the pizzas were tasty. That’s the only reason this experience gets 2 stars.
