I am a regular Safeway customer and have always spoken highly of the convenience of its delivery service, especially to friends who live in D.C. Unfortunately, this experience has completely changed my impression. My delivery was delayed, and I was not provided with a new delivery time or any useful information about when my order would arrive. I called the Georgetown location several times to get an update. On my first call, a woman answered and placed me on hold while I was explaining the situation. Another person then picked up the phone and disconnected the call, sending me back to the main menu. I called again, but no one assisted me, and I was once again returned to the main menu. This happened repeatedly over the course of three calls. I felt as though my calls were being ignored rather than handled by customer service. I previously had a very high opinion of Safeway and regularly told others how much time the delivery service saved me. However, the lack of communication, professionalism, and basic customer support during this situation was incredibly frustrating. Customers should not have to repeatedly call a store just to receive a simple update about a delayed order. I expected much better from Safeway.
