I went to Morton’s The Steakhouse in DC last night for my birthday with a group of 9, and it was a very disappointing experience from start to finish.
Service was extremely slow throughout the entire night. Our appetizers took about 40 minutes to come out, and when they finally arrived, they were warm at best some already getting cold. About 30 minutes in, our waiter informed us they were out of the Wagyu meatballs, which was frustrating since we had to change our order after already waiting.
For my main course, I ordered a dry-aged ribeye medium, but it came out closer to well done. At that point, we had already been waiting so long and it was getting late, so I didn’t send it back. The sides were also just warm, not hot it felt like a lot of the food had been sitting before being served.
Drinks took a long time as well and were overly sweet, with barely any alcohol taste. The only standout of the night was the bread pudding, which was excellent.
To make matters worse, it took another 45 minutes just to get the check and pay. We were seated at 8:30 PM and didn’t leave until 11:30 PM, which caused us to miss our next plans.
When we reviewed the bill (which was around $1,600), we asked a few simple questions for clarification. Instead of helping, the server seemed to take it personally and responded defensively, saying “that’s not my motto or how I do things, I don’t upcharge,” which made the situation uncomfortable when we were just trying to understand the charges.
No manager came by at any point to check on the table or address the issues, which was surprising given the number of problems throughout the night.
For the price point, the food and service didn’t come close to expectations. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t return based on this experience, especially for what was supposed to be a birthday dinner.

Filets were good. Limited salad selection. Dessert was meh.

We recently visited Morton’s for our anniversary dinner, and overall it was a memorable experience. The wagu dumplings, oysters, & steak were absolutely excellent. The lobster was decent, though it didn’t quite stand out as much as the steak.
What truly made the night special was the service. Tee (T?) took exceptional care of us from start to finish; he was very attentive, friendly, and genuinely invested in making our evening great. He offered thoughtful recommendations and checked in at just the right moments without ever being intrusive. His service easily made this a 10/10 experience and elevated our anniversary celebration.
Thanks to Tee, our night felt extra special, and we’ll definitely be back.

Bad experience all around. It took 45 minutes to get my steak even though I was the only patron. The steak was overcooked. Then I got a replacement steak but was charged for two steaks. Music was loud. Atmosphere was not old school steak house but no as cholo as takes house. There are much better steak options in DC. Avoid.
