The pizza is delicious, very authentic Italian. My wife had the gnocchi and she really enjoyed also. The staff is very friendly and dedicated. Claudio was very professional. Definitely a place to return in near future.

Menomale may have the best Italian food in the DMV area. It’s that good. Authentic Italian (& not the Americanized version). As one with lots of Italian family and dozens of trips to Italy to visit them, I speak the truth. Do not walk, but run to Menomale! Its takeout menu is extensive, too. Support this restaurant!! (We live near the one in NoMa!)

My husband and I stayed for three days in Washington at the Hyatt Place Hotel. One morning, we walked past this restaurant, and what caught my husband's attention was the waiter's meticulous attention to detail in setting the outside table. We decided to return that evening and met our waiter, Claudio, who was very professional and gave us many recommendations. We ordered the Vesuvian and the Terra pizzas, which were delicious, and the espresso was also very good. Claudio made me a cappuccino that was so good the last time I had one that good was in Italy. It was an excellent experience, and I highly recommend this place.

The food is always good, but the service this time was a nightmare. Menomale has always been one of our favorite pizza places, so this experience was especially disappointing. Our server never wrote down our order, and several things went wrong. We ordered two Coke Zeros, but received one Coke Zero and one regular Coke. We decided not to say anything because one mistake is completely understandable, and we only noticed after the regular Coke had already been opened, so it really wasn’t a big deal. At the beginning, we specifically asked if they had meat tortellini and were told yes. The server also had to come back to our table to ask again which sauce we wanted for the pasta. We ordered two pizzas, one with mortadella and no basil. Instead, a completely different pizza was brought to the table. After waiting quite a while, the correct pizza finally arrived, but it still had basil on it. Another thing that really surprised us was that the pizzas were brought out before the pasta. In Italy, bringing the pizza before the pasta is basically unacceptable, and we honestly expected more attention to this from an Italian restaurant. Then, when the pasta finally arrived, it was ravioli, not tortellini. When we pointed this out, the server told us it was “the same thing” and that it was a substitution. My husband is Italian, and any Italian knows that ravioli and tortellini are definitely not the same thing. More importantly, no one told us about this substitution beforehand, even though we had specifically asked at the beginning if meat tortellini were available. Mistakes can happen, and we were already willing to overlook the Coke issue. But when almost every part of the order had an issue, along with the lack of communication and attention, it became very frustrating. The food was still good, as always, but unfortunately the service made the whole experience extremely disappointing. We expect much better from a place we have always really liked.

Delicious dinner! Claudio made great recommendations and was super attentive! Service was fast, friendly and we had plenty of time to chat and enjoy our meal. Place super cute w some Italian history and cute pictures and displays. The antipasto was amazing and so filling - perfect girls dinner when paired with the cheese platter. Cannoli fresh and light. Will definitely be back. Cappuccino was delish and the perfect ending.
