When you walk into a place that has a group of Dominican men slapping dominios on the table in the corner you know you're going to have the real Caribbean experience! The food is delicious & authentic, the faces behind the counter are all Dominican and the atmosphere is real.

I'm writing this review because I want to see more Dominican restaurants thrive in the United States. This was going to be a 1-star review but I changed it to 2 at the last minute because a guy who works at the bar treated me well and the food was good.
First, the music was too loud both outside and inside — it was impossible to eat in peace anywhere in the restaurant. Second, the restaurant was dirty everywhere: the floor, the bathroom, and outside. Third, I ordered food to eat inside the restaurant and I had to guess when my food was ready because there was no way to bring it to the table or notify me that it was ready, so I had to get up every now and then to check if my food was done. Fourth, I admire the craft and our culture, but if I'm going to a restaurant to eat, I don't want to hear 4 grown men slamming dominoes so loud it sounds like gunshots. They should move the domino table outside. And lastly, they have no condiments — I asked for ketchup and they had nothing.
I hope the owner fixes these conditions, because honestly I don't see people from any other culture putting up with all these shortcomings the way Dominicans do.
I work near Los Hermanos in NW DC, and eat lunch there often.
Me and my son went to Mechos, near Costco, to taste cakes for a catered event. We tried their four Yellow cakes topped with whipped frosting. Guayaba (Guava jelly) was tasty and tangy. Pineapple had little chucks of fruit in the filling. Dulce de Leche had caramel filling. Tres Leches was moist and sweet. My son voted for Tres Leches, then comenced to eat the rest of all of them!
Mechos has great vibes. Baseball on the TV, Salsa on the speakers, and the fellas playing domino's on the outside patio. Everyone smiling and enjoying themselves.
