SO HAPPY Giordanos opened in DC. Came on a Saturday around noon and the place wasn’t packed but busy enough. We were able to find nearby street parking without too much circling. The decor is so cute and makes you feel like you’re in Chicago. The food was incredible, the lunch deal (a personal deep dish and side for 10.99!?!?) is a STEAL. They also have GF tavern style which was YUMMY. We had the Italian beef risotto balls that came with aujus and they were SO GOOD and came out fast. The place is obviously still ironing out kinks (my pepperoni pizza came out just cheese and we got our meals about 20 mins apart) but the staff were super friendly and we WILL be going back and I’m sure all those little things will get worked out.
SPECIAL SHOUT OUT to Daquan who was cleaning the floors and tables and chairs so well that I actually stopped to ask his name because I was so impressed by his work ethic. (And I’m hard to please). Not only was he working his butt off but he was genuinely appreciative of the positive feedback and you could tell he was proud of his work - which he should be. Thanks Daquan for being amazing and making your customers feel well cared for!
For all the people saying it took too long … WELCOME TO DEEP DISH PIZZA! most experiences take a couple of hours since it takes so long to cook a MASSIVE deep dish thoroughly. It’s all part of the dining experience. Settle in and get some apps and drinks while they’re making your mouth watering pizza. (Also, the crust is SUPPOSED to be hard!)
Thanks for a wonderful weekend lunch and even better leftovers for days to come !

Wednesday June 17, 2026, while traveling from Florida to DC, we stopped in for dinner because this restaurant was only a few blocks from our hotel. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing.
We waited more than 10 minutes before being greeted by our server, despite her passing our table multiple times without acknowledging us. When she finally came over, we were ready to place our full order, including drinks.
Our food service was equally frustrating. Our pizza arrived before our drinks, and after asking about them, our server forgot them again. Another staff member brought our salad. When the drinks finally arrived, mine tasted like club soda rather than what I ordered, and I had to request a replacement.
After that, we waited another 40+ minutes for our pizza, which arrived only lukewarm. Throughout the meal, our server was frequently absent, and on two occasions I observed her on her phone. By that point, we were exhausted from traveling and simply wanted to eat, pay, and get some rest.
The most frustrating part was trying to pay our bill. We couldn’t find our server and eventually had to ask another employee for assistance. Our server briefly appeared while on a phone call, then disappeared again. We ultimately had to go to the carryout counter to pay and leave.
I don’t leave reviews lightly, and this isn’t meant to be cruel. Everyone can have an off day. However, hospitality starts with basic attentiveness and care, and unfortunately that was missing from our experience. I hope this feedback is taken as an opportunity to improve because future guests deserve better.
This is possibly the worst pizza i've ever had. Ok, a little explanation. I'm originally from Chicago, but have lived in DC for many years now. All the way up until last year, i would stop by a Giordano's location in Chicago when i visited my folks. I'm very familiar with how this pizza is supposed to be.
Anyway, i've been to the DC location twice now. On the first visit, i got the stuffed pizza, which was good, but not great. Tasted mostly like the Chicago locations, although something was slightly off. Could be the local water. Still good though, and would order again.
Tonight, i got the thin crust, and it was just terrible. I ordered sausage with extra cheese. I got a pretty minimal amount of cheese, an almost non-existent amount of sauce, and a lot of bread. It was like eating a pita with a little sauce and cheese sprinkled on. It was also quite flavorless, probably due to the lack of sauce, and it was also undercooked, with a layer of uncooked dough in the center. Mind you, i've had Giordiano's thin crust many times in Chicago, but their DC location really dropped the ball hard on this.
To add insult to injury, the tiny 14" pizza cost me $35. And i picked it up. No delivery fee, no service fee. Just the pizza itself. 35 bucks for a bunch of bread with barely any cheese or sauce.
The one thing i will say is the staff is great. Both times i was there, they were very friendly and helpful. A bit overwhelmed with getting themselves together, but they're trying. The first time i ate there, and we waited 15 minutes before someone even came to our table, and it wasn't even busy. But i think that will change as they get their feet more wet. Now if someone from Chicago could actually teach the cooks how to properly make a pie, they'd be great.
Now that both my parents are gone, and i have no family left in Chicago to visit, i really was hoping you guys would be my regular spot for a taste of my old home, but you have some work to do. I'd like to come back, but it's a lot of money to spend on a hope that the pizza will be done properly.

Visited on June 10, one day after this location opened. Going in with very low expectations based on early reviews actually helped a lot, so keep that in mind.
Service: We were seated promptly, but it took about 15 minutes before we realized no server was coming. We had to flag down our hostess to ask who was supposed to help us. She was absolutely wonderful and stepped in, took our order, and made sure we were taken care of. Honestly she was the MVP of the visit. About 30 minutes into our visit, a server finally appeared and offered us drinks. By that point we had been there half an hour with no water. She did seem to feel bad and genuinely picked it up from there, so credit where it is due. The tables around us were having it worse though. Multiple tables received the wrong deep dish pizzas and managers were making the rounds apologizing. It was a bit chaotic all around us, and we were grateful we at least got the right order.
Food: We ordered the 10 inch Chicago Special and the skillet cookie for dessert. The flavor on the pizza was genuinely really good, 8 out of 10. It was a bit thinner and had less cheese pull than what you get in Chicago, but the taste was still there. The skillet cookie was a nice, cozy finish to the meal.
Wait Time: This is worth calling out separately. A deep dish typically runs about 40 to 45 minutes. Ours took well over an hour, closer to an hour and fifteen to an hour and twenty minutes. For a 10 inch pizza that is a long time to sit and wait, especially with the service challenges on top of it. Just be prepared for that going in.
Atmosphere: Really cute inside. There is a mini replica of the Willis Tower, neon lights, fun vibes overall. The space itself is a real win and you can tell a lot of thought went into it.
Bottom Line: The staff is clearly still being trained and this location needs more experienced service professionals. For now, I would honestly recommend ordering carryout or delivery over dining in. The food is worth it, but the sit down experience is not quite there yet. Once they find their footing, I think this place has real potential. Just go in with very low expectations on service and you will not be disappointed.
3 out of 5 stars (revisiting once they settle in)
Very disappointing experience at Giordano's tonight. We were seated at 8:00 PM, and our server, Kiana, acknowledged us about five minutes later and said she would be right back with waters and to take our order. Unfortunately, she disappeared and didn't return until around 8:30 PM to take our order, and we still didn't have any water at that point.
We ordered calamari and pizza and Kiana said she would be back with waters. About an hour after being seated, another employee stopped by our table to ask how we were doing and was the one who finally brought us water. Meanwhile, Kiana was nowhere to be found for roughly 55 minutes, only reappearing later to ask if we wanted refills on the water we had just received. After that, she disappeared again for another 15–20 minutes, leaving us with no updates on our food or the status of our order.
The calamari arrived first and was just okay. Honestly, by then we were so hungry that almost anything would have tasted decent. Our pizza didn't arrive until 9:45 PM, nearly two hours after we sat down. When it finally came out, it was lukewarm. The cheese was already starting to solidify, the sauce wasn't hot, and the toppings were noticeably skimpy. It felt like our order had been forgotten and then rushed out.
To make matters worse, when we asked for a to-go box, Kiana handed us an unfolded box for us to assemble ourselves. She also messed up our check.
What stood out most was that we weren't the only unhappy customers. Several tables around us were complaining about the service and the extremely long wait times for their pizzas as well. The service throughout the restaurant was absolutely horrendous, especially for a business celebrating its grand opening after already being operational for weeks.
The customer service was unacceptable, the food quality suffered because of the delays, and the overall experience was frustrating from start to finish. We won't be back.
