  We had lunch today at Bombay 2 in Capitol Hill. What a great meal! The atmosphere inside is festive, the portions were plentiful and the food was delicious. Definitely will be back!

  Unfortunately, I had a very disappointing experience at Bombay Street Food in Eastern Market today, September 28, around 11:45 a.m. My grandmother and I were walking toward the entrance when a young man who was cleaning the windows saw us approaching. He stepped back and opened the door, so naturally we assumed he was holding it open for us. Instead, he walked inside and allowed the door to close directly in our faces. We followed him inside because we initially planned to stay and eat, but after sitting down, my grandmother and I both agreed that the interaction did not sit right with us. We got back up and decided to leave. Before leaving, I asked to speak with a manager and was told that there was no manager available. I explained to the employee that his actions had made us feel unwelcome and that the restaurant had lost our business. He attempted to give an explanation for closing the door in our faces, but unfortunately, his explanation did not make the situation any better or make much sense to us. Customer service begins before a customer even sits down at the table. A simple gesture of courtesy could have made the entire interaction different. Instead, we left feeling uncomfortable and disrespected. We chose not to spend our money somewhere that made us feel unwelcome, and unfortunately, I do not plan to return.

  Take out was on time. Food was incredible as always. We had guests over and it was rainy and cold. This was perfect. Vegan dahl, eggplant, spinach always a veg fave. Tried tandoori salmon and loved it. And of course the butter chicken always OMG amazing. Tried the raggda patties for the first time. Delicious. You just can’t go wrong. I did low spice on everything due to an embarrasing inability is to handle spice and it worked out well. Still good spice. I don’t feel like I missed out on anything. Bread basket worked well for us and raita. Plenty of leftovers for tomorrow.

  Bombay Street Food 2 The food was okay, but the hygiene was absolutely unacceptable. While waiting for my bread, I looked around and noticed mouse droppings in multiple places—including the corners, behind the chair I was sitting in, and near the kitchen. I was genuinely horrified. I came to a restaurant expecting basic cleanliness and food safety, not to discover evidence of a serious pest problem while trying to eat. Once I saw that, I completely lost my appetite. No matter how decent the food is, you cannot expect customers to feel comfortable eating in an environment like that. This was my first visit, and it will definitely be my last. Management seriously needs to address this issue immediately. Customers deserve a clean and safe place to eat.

  I had take away for veg kolhapuri. When I went home and saw it. I was shocked. For some place called, bombay strret food, this thing was anything but veg kolhapuri. It was sweet, had a mipk based gravy and even with that, tasted soo bad. We threw the whole thing. Next was gobhi manchhrian, it was sweet as well and was so.chemically red. I have had better food in DC. I would never ever go back and would not recommend this place.
