Nice and clean place and nice staff. Had the AYCE brunch buffet and had a healthy amount of options. The miso black cod is worth the hype and everything else is just ok. Was disappointed by lack of raw salmon as they sear them all and the spicy tuna crispy rice was more sticky than crispy. But cheaper way to have Nobu experience for a one and done is alright.

Nobu unfortunately did not live up to our expectations. We’ve found it challenging to find truly great Asian restaurants in DC.
Unfortunately, the food was underwhelming and far too expensive for the quality. Having had some incredible Japanese food in Japan, the difference in freshness, quality, and execution was quite noticeable.
The ambiance was also a bit strange—it felt more like a nightclub than an upscale Japanese restaurant, which wasn’t really our preference.
Overall, a disappointing experience.

I always wondered if Nobu was over hyped, but I can honestly say I completely understand the hype.
Just starting with the oysters on the Tanoshi (Happy) Hour menu, I felt like their was a party in my mouth with the baked ones, wow! The raw ones were nice and fresh and I thought it was cool it came with other toppings besides cocktails sauce, vinegar, etc. I am not sure why there are available for a short period of time but I’m hoping they change their mind about this and keep this on the menu for longer.
Below are the food items we got. Though everything was good, I’d go the A5 Wagyu route over the beef tenderloin of course, dumplings over tacos, and if you could only pick one dessert, I’d go with buttermilk donuts especially because it does come with a really good vanilla bean ice cream.
- Yellowtail jalapeño
- Seared salmon karashi su miso
- Fresh oysters with Nobu sauces
- Baked oysters creamy spicy
- Black cod butter lettuce
- Crispy rice spicy tuna
- Spicy shrimp garlic
- Beef tenderloin toban yaki
- Wagyu tacos
- Wagyu dumplings
- Japanese A5 Wagyu
- Buttermilk donuts
- Mochi ice cream
Excellent service as well and has a nice dim atmosphere inside.

This is not what we expected from Nobu. The food was ok. However, the service was very sub pare. After 15 min sitting at the table, I just had to ask, if it is possible to “only” get a menu. The service continue like this the whole evening. Nobody was in charge of service. Apart from the food I want to feel welcome. At the Nobu price point this can not happen!

Every time we come to Washington, DC, we have to stop at Nobu. We first came in February 2026, and now we’re back again in August 2026 — and coming here has officially become part of our DC tradition. ❤️
We absolutely love everything about this place — the food, the atmosphere, the beautiful design, and most importantly, the amazing staff. Every visit feels special, and the experience is always just as incredible as we remember.
We love coming to DC, and honestly, our trips wouldn’t feel complete without coming to Nobu. It has become “our place” whenever we’re in the city, and we’re already looking forward to our next visit.
Thank you to the entire Nobu DC team for always making us feel welcome and giving us such an amazing experience. We truly love this place! ❤️🍣✨
