I went to Feng Chophouse in Hartford with a group of five, and even though the place was packed, the experience was genuinely impressive from start to finish. The food came out fresh, well‑prepared, and full of flavor, and nothing ever felt rushed or thrown together despite how busy the restaurant was. What really stood out were the bartenders, Vicki and April, who were nonstop the entire night but still managed to make some of the best drinks we’ve had in a long time. They paid attention to everything happening around the bar, kept track of who needed what, and never let anyone sit too long without being checked on. Their energy and focus made a huge difference in the overall experience. The atmosphere was lively but never chaotic, and even with a full house, the service stayed organized and attentive. Overall, it was a great night — excellent food, sharp service, and bartenders who clearly take pride in what they do. It’s the kind of place you leave already planning to come back.1q

We got the steak and cheese which she enjoyed. My organic chicken was very good. For apps we went with the pork belly with peach which was very tasty. A hidden gem of this place is the salad with ginger and blueberries. It was delicious. It's a very cozy, intimate atmosphere. We went on a Tuesday so it was quieter than probably later in the week. Just keep that in mind as I don't know how the decibel level will be during the weekend. Wait staff were polite and the drinks were good. They rushed making the last martini which is why the score isn't perfect. I would definitely bring her back to Feng!

To be clear the food was great. However our server, Vicky who was the bartender that night was by far the worst server I’ve ever had. Here are some examples. We had a party of 16, but we were there on a Monday and celebrating my nephews graduation. We had a reservation and there were maybe two other smaller parties in the restaurant at the time. Our dinner took more that 4 hours. Mostly because our bartender/waitress Vicky was too busy taking shots in the bar, flirting with someone who worked there (which I did observe from my seat. She was standing at the back of the bar along the wall taking multiple shots) and generally not doing her job to even check on our drinks. She offered us desert, which a few ordered and did not realize the entire kitchen staff had already left and 25 minutes after it was ordered came back out to tell us “oops, I guess the kitchen staff left and I didn’t know. Sorry.” She 100% did not listen to how our bill needed to be handled and took 20 min and five requests to even bring the bill. I will say we had a few other employees that were lovely and helped keep us in water. Bless them for their help! Bottoms line Feng has great food but if you get Vicky the bartender as your server ask for someone new.

Zack & I enjoyed a nice anniversary dinner at Feng on 6/15/26. We got a lychee martini and I had a green tea lychee martini mocktail. We started with foie gras dumplings which Zach said might just be a bit too fatty/rich for his taste, but I enjoyed them. We split a 10pc nigiri platter which was yummy, they have seasoned sushi rice here, which I hadn’t seen before. The Otoro Caviar was the star of the show, the fatty bluefin tuna was our favorite. The service was excellent and our server was very attentive to our needs. There was a corporate party seated for dinner across from us and an elderly couple next to us so it looks like a good spot for coworkers and couples to enjoy some sushi. The restaurant is dark with trendy top 40 music playing in the background. Need to come back for some steak’s next.

I didn’t so much choose to come to Feng Chophouse, but rather was flung into the gravitational pull of the Wagyuverse by watching too many beef enjoyers preach its gospel on the internet. This was the inevitable trajectory if your goal is to stay in the Nutmeg State while also sampling cattle that had more spa days than your rich aunt from Greenwich. Enjoyed the Wagyu Trifecta: A5 Miyazaki Wagyu Tataki, Wagyu Meatballs, and A5 Miyazaki Wagyu NY Strip. All were cooked to perfection and served quickly. The beef melts on your palate as if it were the One Ring and your mouth were the fires of Mount Doom. Iykyk. All of the dishes were served with simple preparations that let the beef stand on its own without needing an assist from toppings or sauces. Dessert was the Lady M Chocolate Mille Crepe. Not sure who this Lady M is, but sheesh does she know her way around a chocolate cake. Had the Feng Fashioned from the drink menu, which was a solid balanced take on the classic Old Fashioned. Service was quick and efficient. Attentive without feeling intrusive. Our waiter Matthew was knowledgeable about the menu and clearly answered all of our questions. Used the valet parking, with is available on weekends for $10. Even with this I’d still budget an extra 5 minutes because maneuvering space is tight on Asylum St. Ambiance was a bit energetic with moderate noise levels. Easy to hold a conversation with the person next to you. The House background music reminded me a bit of a trendy club from the aughts in Hoboken. Interpret that as you will. Most patrons we dressed casually and laid back; less stuffy that your regular steak house vibe. Highly recommend if your social media algorithm has convinced you that you need to experience the umami extravaganza that is Wagyu. Also if you like tasty food.
